🍊 Orange Rescue Challenge 🍊

Following our previous Sink and Float with Citrus activity, the children took on an exciting challenge of rescuing a sunken orange and making it float to the surface.

Using chopsticks, straws, sticks and even their fingers, the children experimented by stirring the water to create water movement and mini whirlpools. Through hands on exploration, they discovered how moving water and buoyancy can help objects rise and float.

We first tested with a normal orange, which only floated halfway due to its weight and density. Later, we tried mandarin oranges, which were lighter and easier to bring up to the surface through stirring and water movement. The children were excited when they successfully made the mandarin oranges float and “rescued” them.

To wrap up the fun science exploration, the children recorded their observations and experiments in their own mini booklet. 📚✨
