🌸 When Nature Becomes Our Paintbrush

We wandered through the garden, noticing the little flowers growing around us. We picked a few gently, wondering what they might become.

Then, petals became paintbrushes. Colours became marks. And the garden found its way onto our paper. 🎨🌿

It was more than painting. It was a moment of connection — touching, observing, experimenting, and discovering that nature can inspire the way we create.

When children are given space to wonder, even a tiny flower can open the door to a world of possibilities. 🌼

*Growing Up Proud, Growing Up Malaysian* 🇲🇾

Being proud of who we are begins from the little things - the songs we sing, the stories we hear, the flavours we discover and the traditions we experience together.

This Merdeka, our children explored Malaysia through their senses, movement and stories, discovering not just what makes our country special, but why it is worth celebrating.

May these little hearts grow with a deep sense of belonging, appreciation and pride - knowing that they, too, are a part of Malaysia's story. 🌺

🦐 Today, We Peeled & Cooked Shrimp!

Today’s lesson had no textbooks,
but a plate of fresh shrimp and two little hands ready to explore. 🌿

For the first time, the children tried peeling shrimp on their own — observing its shape, feeling its texture, and slowly learning how to remove the shell. It was a little challenging at first, but they experienced that wonderful moment of going from “I don’t know how” to “I can do it!”

Then came the cooking! We placed our peeled shrimp into the pan and watched them slowly turn from translucent to a beautiful pink-red, listened to the gentle sizzle, and breathed in the delicious aroma.

Who knew learning could be so real, hands-on and delicious? ✨

🦐 今天，我们一起剥虾、炒虾！

今天的课堂没有课本，
而是一盘新鲜的虾和一双认真探索的小手。🌿

孩子们第一次尝试自己剥虾，
观察虾的外形、触摸虾的质感，
慢慢学着把虾壳剥开，感受从“不会”到“我可以”的过程。

接着，我们一起把剥好的虾放进锅里炒一炒。
看着虾从透明慢慢变成漂亮的红色，
听着锅里滋滋作响的声音，
闻着食物散发出来的香味
原来，学习可以是这么真实、这么有趣。

过程中，我们也认识了世界各地一些有壳的动物和生物，更发现面对不熟悉的事物时，勇敢尝试与坚持一下，就会发现自己比想象中更勇敢！ ✨

🌿 *What's Cooking in Our Outdoor Kitchen?*

There's no menu, no recipe and definitely no "right" way to play.

One day, a handful of leaves might become ingredients. The next, flowers become toppings, mud becomes a sauce, and a little mortar and pestle becomes the most important kitchen tool.

Our outdoor kitchen is a space where children dream up, experiment with and create their own ideas - using what nature has to offer.

Because sometimes, the best recipes are the ones children invent themselves. 🍃✨

More often than not, it's not that children can't do it—it's that they haven't been given the chance.

At Eco Hut, real life skills aren't an occasional activity; they're woven into everyday learning. From caring for a tiny snail and preparing meals to washing clothes and helping with meaningful tasks, every experience is an opportunity to build independence, confidence, and responsibility.

Instead of doing everything for children, we choose to do it with them—guiding them until they can proudly say, "I can do it myself."

Because the greatest gift we can give a child isn't doing things for them—it's believing they are capable.

Eww... it's a real fish!"

Those were some of the first words we heard today.

A few minutes later, those same little eyes were filled with curiosity instead of hesitation.

They watched the fish sizzle in the pan.
They noticed the colour changing.
They smelled the aroma filling the air.
They asked thoughtful questions.
They waited patiently.

This is what authentic learning looks like.

Not everything needs to begin with a worksheet.
Sometimes, learning begins with wonder, real experiences, and meaningful conversations.

Cooking a fish is more than preparing lunch.

It teaches children where food comes from, how it transforms, and why every meal should be respected rather than taken for granted.

When children experience learning with all five senses, they don't just remember facts—they build understanding, gratitude, and a lifelong connection with the world around them.

At Ecohut, we believe that the most meaningful education happens through real life.

Less worksheets. More experiences.

It's squishy.
It's MESSY, MESSY, MESSY! 🎨🖐️

It all started with one little fingertip...

Then two.
Then all ten fingers!

Before long, little hands were sliding, swirling, patting, and stamping colourful handprints everywhere. Some even giggled and asked, "Can I put my handprint on my friend's painting too?"

There was no "right" way to paint—just curious hands, big smiles, and lots of joyful mess.
