How to think like genius without cracking your head too much!

How to start a speech like a PRO 18/04/2025

This is a good video for presentation and writing skill. The summary of the video:

This video provides essential tips on how to capture and maintain your audience's attention from the very start of any speech, pitch, or presentation.

Key Points for TLDW:
Importance of the First 30 Seconds
-The beginning is crucial because audiences are bombarded with information and distractions (phones, emails, side conversations).
-Many presenters lose attention by starting with housekeeping details (fire exits, thank you). This should be minimized or delegated.
-The goal is to grab attention immediately and make your audience realize the presentation has truly started.

Common Mistakes to Avoid:
-Starting with small talk or irrelevant details.
-Overloading the audience before capturing their interest.
Jumping in without a clear, engaging opening.

Effective Ways to Start Like a Pro
1. Pause and Breathe-Take a deep breath before speaking. This signals control and presence, helping the audience focus on you.

2. Tell a Story -Use a brief, relevant narrative to draw listeners in. Keep it succinct (around 60 seconds), punchy, and pertinent. Structure storytelling with a beginning, middle, and end.

3. Ask a Rhetorical Question -Pose a question that makes the audience think but doesn't require an answer. This engages their minds and directs focus to your topic immediately.

4. Use a Powerful Quote -Start with a relevant quote to anchor your message and lend credibility. It helps contextualize your topic and engages the audience intellectually.

5. Present a Surprising Fact or Figure -Share an interesting statistic or bold statement that grabs attention. This appeals to the analytical side of the brain and piques curiosity.

6. Show an Image or Video -Use visuals to do the heavy lifting of engagement. Emotionally engaging content can complement analytical points and deepen connection.

7. Humor- If appropriate and you are comfortable, starting with a joke can build rapport and increase openness. Humor is high risk but high reward; only use if confident in delivery.

What to Do After Getting Attention -Once you have your audience's attention, keep them engaged by delivering clear, interesting content.

Our mind is inherently creative. You either use the creative energy to be build or destroy.

To build: we use our creative energy to imagine and to create a desired future.

To destroy: we use our creative energy to create worries and fears that stops us from creating a desired future.

Positive future pull us forward.

Worries paralyse and confuse us.

Do an inventory audit on where you spend your creative energy daily.

Make your worries worth your creative energy expense

The expense of it must help you navigate the odds of your undertakings.

A good plan incorporates risk management strategies.

That is where your creative energy should be leveraged

Eiffel Tower is in France where people speak French! Ah Ha!😂

📣 Hey friends! I just had the most hilarious time with some young English learners today. They came up with problem-solution pairs that had me in stitches! 😂 Check these out:

📚 Problem: “I didn’t do my homework”
Solution: “I did it”

🤷‍♂️ Well, who needs an excuse when you can just magically get your homework done, right? 😜

🍽️ Problem: “I was hungry”
Solution: “I ate a biscuit”

🍪 Ah, the classic biscuit solution to all of life’s hungry problems! Can’t argue with that logic! 😄 But it's unhealthy though!

Kids always have a way of finding the most creative solutions, don’t they? Keep those problem-solving skills sharp, little geniuses! 👏🏼

How does a map different from a Journey?

🗺️ We all love a good map, don't we? It shows where we want to go, helps plan our routes, and us a sense of direction. But let me tell you, there's so much more to the journey than what a map can reveal!

🚶‍♀️ Imagine standing at the starting point of your career or a new venture. The map may outline the milestones, the expected challenges, and even some hidden treasures along the way. Yet, it's only when you start walking that you truly grasp the essence of the journey.

👣 As you take those initial steps, you stumble upon unexpected paths that lead you to rich experiences and valuable lessons. Those hidden treasures? They reveal themselves when you explore off the beaten track and embrace the unexpected opportunities that arise.

⛰️ And let's not forget about the challenges! On a map, they may appear as mere contour lines or obstacles to overcome. But it's when you face and conquer them head-on that you grow, develop resilience, and discover your true potential.

🌈 The journey is where the magic happens. It's where you build relationships, learn from mentors and colleagues, and develop skills you never knew you had. It's where you find your passion, redefine success, and create a lasting impact.

So, my fellow Edneyians, as you navigate your own unique journeys, remember to appreciate the value of both the map and the journey itself. Embrace the twists and turns, celebrate the triumphs, and learn from every setback.

Research, read and plan wisely, but be open to exploring new paths. Remember that neither the map nor the destination that shapes us into who we become.

It's the journey!

At times it's necessary to pause, take a step back and refocus on the present moment. Put your trust in the journey ahead of you - don't get caught up overthinking things that you cannot change.
