Students’ Visit to ‘Stories In Light and Shade’ Photography Exhibition Students from the Bachelor of Communication (Honours) in Mass Communication programme had the privilege of visiting the Tan Sri Dato’ Chang Joo Chiang Museum & Art Gallery at Southern University College on 12 August 2025 to admire Stories of Light and Shade — the first solo photography exhibition by Ms. Wong Siew Heong.
The exhibition featured 80 captivating photographs across diverse areas, each reflecting the photographer’s keen eye for detail and storytelling through visual art. The students were impressed and inspired by the artistry, creativity, and emotions captured in the works.
A highlight of the visit was the interactive session with Ms. Wong, where she shared her creative journey, inspirations, and techniques. The exchange provided valuable insights into the world of photography, leaving the students both enriched and motivated to explore their own creative pursuits.

大众传播（荣誉）学士学生参观《光影的故事》摄影展
大众传播（荣誉）学士课程的学生有幸于8月12日参观了位于 南方大学文物与艺术馆，欣赏由黄秀香女士举办的首次个人展——《光影的故事》。
展览共展出80幅引人入胜的摄影作品，每一幅都展现了摄影师敏锐的观察力与透过镜头讲述故事的能力。学生们深受作品的艺术魅力、创意构思与情感表达所打动，并获得了满满的灵感。
参观的一大亮点是与黄秀香女士的互动交流环节。她与学生们分享了自己的创作历程、灵感来源以及摄影技巧，让同学们对摄影艺术有了更深入的认识。这次交流不仅增长了见识，也激发了学生们探索自身创意潜能的热情。

Participation in the Global Conference of Communication, Culture & Contemporary Media (GLOCOM) 2025
Three academic representatives from Southern University College proudly participated in the Global Conference of Communication, Culture & Contemporary Media (GLOCOM), held from 28 to 30 July 2025 in Putrajaya. With the theme “Navigating the Digital Age through the Perspective of Communication and Media,” the conference served as a vital platform for academics and industry practitioners to engage in meaningful discourse and exchange critical insights on the evolving media landscape in the digital era.
Southern University College was represented by:
• Ms Shaffika Bte Mohd Suhaimi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology (FEIT)
• Ms Nur Shamilla Binti Selamat, Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology (FEIT)
• Ms Lah Wan Yee, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences (FHSS)
The university's presence was marked by notable achievements:
• Ms Lah Wan Yee was honoured with the Best Presenter Award, recognizing her outstanding presentation skills and research contribution.
• Ms Nur Shamilla Binti Selamat received the Best Poster Award, highlighting excellence in visual communication of research.
• Ms Shaffika Bte Mohd Suhaimi served as co-author on both award-winning research papers, reflecting strong collaborative efforts and cross-disciplinary scholarship within Southern University College.
This participation not only demonstrated the lecturers’ academic excellence but also underscored their commitment to advancing knowledge in communication and media studies. The conference enabled fruitful networking, knowledge exchange, and reinforced Southern University College’s dedication to embracing the challenges and opportunities of the digital age through scholarly research and innovation.

南方大学学院三位学术代表荣幸出席于2025年7月28日至30日在布城举办的全球传播、文化与当代媒体大会（GLOCOM）。本次大会以“以传播与媒体的视角导航数字时代”为主题，为学术界与业界人士提供了一个重要的平台，就数字时代不断演变的媒体生态进行深入交流与思想碰撞。
