Dr. Mohammad Yusuf

Dr. Mohd Yusuf’s academic journey reflects the impact of dedication, strong mentorship, and international exposure in shaping a globally engaged researcher and educator.
His Chemical Engineering journey began at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India, where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under the mentorship of Dr. Moina Athar. His early academic experience developed his interest in sustainable energy, catalysis, and process engineering.
He later joined Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia, for his PhD in Chemical Engineering under the supervision of Dr Bawadi Abdullah C.Eng. The research environment and mentorship at UTP strengthened his expertise in scientific research, multidisciplinary collaboration, energy, and sustainability.
Following his PhD, Dr. Yusuf continued at UTP as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Petroleum Engineering, expanding his research into petroleum and energy related fields. He subsequently joined the University of Regina, Canada, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, gaining further international research experience and registering as an Engineer in Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
Dr. Yusuf currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia, and as a Visiting Professor at UNIVERSIDAD UTE, Ecuador. His academic experience spans India, Malaysia, Canada, Ecuador, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia.
His research focuses on hydrogen production, green energy, catalysis, biomass valorization, CO₂ utilization, gas reforming, CCUS, sustainability, process modelling and optimization, hydrocarbon recovery, and advanced materials characterization. He has published more than 100 research and review articles, with a cumulative journal impact factor exceeding 600 and an h-index of 41 (Scopus).
A significant milestone in his career was his recognition among the World’s Top 2% Scientists in the Stanford University and Elsevier Rankings in 2024 and 2025.
Beyond research, Dr. Yusuf contributes actively to the academic community through editorial and peer review activities. He serves as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and The Scientific World Journal, Associate Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering, and reviewer for more than 30 international journals.
Dr. Yusuf credits his academic foundation at AMU and the research training and mentorship at UTP as important influences on his professional development. Today, he remains committed to advancing sustainable energy research, educating future engineers, and contributing to global scientific collaboration.
