On 11 August 2026, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) conducted a STEAM activities for Form 3 students at SMJK Phor Tay in Bayan Lepas! 🔬✨
Our lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) and Faculty of Science (FSc) brought hands-on learning experiences to life through exciting demonstrations and activities.
🌱 Waste to Wealth: The Composting Challenge
Led by Dr Clement Wong King F**k and Dr Gunavathy a/p Selvarajh
Through this hands-on activity, students had the opportunity to learn about composting, explore ways to reduce waste and discover how waste can be turned into something useful. ♻️🌱
🥬Red Cabbage & pH Indicator
Led by Dr. Ooi Mei Lee from the Faculty of Science (FSc)
Students explored the fascinating world of chemistry through two colour-changing experiments! They learned how red cabbage can be used as a natural pH indicator to identify acidic and basic solutions, while also discovering the principles of oxidation-reduction reactions through an indigo carmine experiment. Through these hands-on activities, students were able to observe how chemical reactions can produce fascinating changes in colour. 🌈🧪
⚙️ Build the tallest tower and Understanding river pollution in Penang
Led by Ts. Dr. Nor Faiza binti Abd Rahman from the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT)
Through these interactive activities, students put their creativity, problem-solving and teamwork skills into action while exploring engineering concepts and learning more about river pollution in Penang. 💡🌊
It was a fun and meaningful experience for students to learn, explore and experience STEAM beyond the classroom! 🙌✨
UTAR remains committed to inspiring young minds and nurturing their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) through meaningful outreach initiatives. 🌱🔬
