Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Prof. Ir. Dr. Khairul Salleh Bin Mohamed Sahari.

Also in attendance were Associate Prof. Ir. Dr. Hasril Bin Hasini (Director, Institute of Sustainable Energy), Prof. Ir. Dr. Shaliza binti Ibrahim (AAIBE Chair Professor), Associate Prof. Ts. Dr. Normy Norfiza Binti Abdul Razak (Director, Research Excellence Centre) and Puan Sunarti Binti Abdullah (Manager, Research Excellence Centre), together with advisory representatives from Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air (PETRA), Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), Malaysia Biomass Industries Confederation (MBIC) and Malaysia Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT).

The meeting reviewed the 2025 programme progress, addressed key implementation challenges, and gathered strategic feedback for continuous improvement.

Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Tiong Sieh Kiong, who has been honoured as a Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) 2025 by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM).

This prestigious recognition reflects his unwavering commitment to research excellence, impactful innovation and visionary leadership in sustainable energy.

The TRSM award recognises Malaysian researchers who exemplify scientific excellence and play a pivotal role in driving the nation’s transformation towards a knowledge-driven, innovation-led future.

Since 2012, TRSM has recognised 210 leading Malaysian researchers, including 62 listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists. This year, 32 scientists, with 25 in 2024 and 7 in 2025, were honoured for their impactful contributions to advancing science, technology, innovation and the economy (STIE).
