UNITEN ALUMNI ARC was originally established on 2 April 2007 as the “Alumni Relations Centre (ARC). We can be contacted via [email protected] .

In recent years, UNITEN re‑structured and renamed the office to “Alumni Relations and Career Department” making it the formal body under “Student Experience & Alumni”. The Alumni, Careers and Sponsorship Centre (ACSC) was established on 2nd April 2007 and later known as the Alumni Relations Centre (ARC). Careers Unit and not long after that, the Sponsorship Unit were transferred from the Student

Affairs Centre on 3rd May 2010 and 5th July 2010 respectively to the then Alumni Relations Centre (ARC). The name of the centre was changed to Alumni, Careers and Sponsorship Centre (ACSC) on 3rd September 2010 to reflect the new responsibilities of the centre. And from that date until 31 December 2018, we were known as Sponsorship, Career and Alumni center (SCA). As at 1st of January 2019, Alumni Relations Department (ARD) was established as a dedicated department to focus on building rapport, network and most importantly to keep in touch with our alumni. After more than 2 years focusing on alumni engagement and networking, ARD is given more responsibility and renamed as Alumni Relations, Career & Industry Linkage Department (ACL) as of 15 March 2021. ACL responsibility includes engagement with both alumni and industry partners. ACL welcomes all alumni, industry partners and friends of UNITEN.

🎓 SPARK Competition Semester 2 2025/2026

On 6 May 2026, the IMeche UNITEN Student Chapter had the opportunity to be part of the Student Project and Research Knowledge Showcase (SPARK) Competition at The Link, College of Engineering (COE), UNITEN.

The event brought together approximately 150 participants, including final-year students showcasing their Final Year Projects (FYP) and Integrated Design Projects (IDP), faculty members, and industry professionals.

SPARK provided an engaging platform for students to showcase their engineering knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills while receiving valuable feedback from academic and industry experts.

Are you an engineering graduate in Malaysia missing out on your 3-year clock to Ir.? 🇲🇾⚙️
One of the most critical oversights fresh engineering graduates make is assuming that their practical experience starts counting the moment they step into the workforce.
Under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967 (Revised 2015), your 3-year mandatory experience counter to become a Professional Engineer (Ir. / P.Eng) ONLY begins on the date your Graduate Engineer (GE) certificate is officially issued by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
To help the next generation of engineers navigate this seamlessly, here is a simple 4-step roadmap to get registered right out of university:
1️⃣ Educational Prerequisite: Ensure your 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degree is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) (or recognized under the Washington Accord for overseas graduates).
2️⃣ Document Preparation: Compile certified true copies (CTC) of your Degree Scroll and Transcripts. Crucial detail: All documents must be endorsed by a registered Professional Engineer (PE / Ir.).
3️⃣ MyBEM Online Application: Register your account on the MyBEM Online System (mybem.bem.org.my), upload your verified documents, and settle the RM 50 processing fee.
4️⃣ Official Certification: Receive your official BEM Graduate Engineer Certificate—and start logging your 3-year experience countdown toward your Ir. journey!

"Pleasure to be part of the Huawei Next Gen Data Center Infrastructure Summit 2026 in Johor Bahru recently.

Thank you to Huawei Technologies Malaysia and Huawei Digital Power for the invitation and for organising a very well run event. It was also good to see the new product line up and the direction towards more integrated power solutions for data centres.

While many discussions naturally focus on what happens inside the data centre, my session took a slightly different angle by looking beyond the facility itself, focusing on the power system perspective and how the integration of different technologies is becoming increasingly important to support the growing demand of AIDC.

It was encouraging to see the data centre ecosystem and other industry stakeholders in the room. The discussions reinforced the growing importance of power availability, system integration and reliability as the industry continues to grow.

It was a valuable opportunity to share this perspective and exchange views with people across the industry.

"Collective Awareness and Preparedness for Dam Safety and Sustainability was the theme of the Sungai Perak Dam Safety Day 2026 with the Community, organized by TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. (TNB Genco) and TNBResearch Sdn. Bhd. (TNBR) in collaboration with the Hulu Perak District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) at Bersia Hydroelectric Power Station on 30 July 2026. The program brought together 166 participants through exhibitions and engagement activities to promote dam safety and emergency preparedness.

The program also included a guided tour of the hydropower facilities, providing participants with greater insight into the critical role of safe and reliable hydro operations. Through close collaboration with government agencies, technical experts, and local communities, TNB Genco continues to strengthen stakeholder partnerships, enhance community resilience, and reinforce its commitment to the long-term safety, sustainability, and reliability of Malaysia's hydropower assets."
