“The Joy of Reading: What Stays with Us”

The Department of Modern Languages recently hosted “The Joy of Reading: What Stays With Us” at the Mezzanine Reading Corner, bringing together students and staff for a meaningful celebration of reading and shared reflection.

The session featured a short talk on the enduring value of reading, followed by engaging activities including a lively read-aloud segment, volunteer-led book sharing, and a collective poetry reading. Participants had the opportunity to explore how reading shapes not only our knowledge, but also our perspectives and personal growth.

The event served as a reminder that reading is more than an individual activity—it is a shared experience that fosters connection, empathy, and a deeper engagement with ideas.

Our sincere thanks to all volunteers, participants, and organisers who contributed to the success of this event.

We look forward to continuing to cultivate a vibrant reading culture within our university community.
