📚 Myth or Fact? You might be surprised!

Many students spend hours studying but still don't see the results they hoped for. That's because how you study matters just as much as how long you study.

Small changes to your study habits can make revision more effective, less stressful, and help information stick for longer.

Swipe through to separate common study myths from the facts! 👉

đź’¬ Which myth have you believed before?

One bad test doesn't define a student's ability—it simply shows where there's room to grow. 🌱

Instead of dwelling on the score, encourage them to review their mistakes, identify their weak areas, and make a plan to improve. Every setback is an opportunity to learn and come back stronger.

Remember: Progress isn't about being perfect. It's about improving, one step at a time. 💪📚

"My child hates Maths word problems."
We hear this from parents all the time.
But often, the problem isn't Maths.
It's engagement.
Many children read the question too quickly, miss key information, and immediately feel frustrated.

One simple way we encourage them to engage is by personalising the question.
Instead of:
"Ali bought 5 apples..."
we might write:
"(student's name) bought 5 apples..."
Suddenly, the question feels relevant.
But that's only the beginning.
Once we have their attention, we don't spend the next ten minutes talking.
Instead, we invite students to:
âś… Read aloud
âś… Explain their thinking
âś… Come to the board
âś… Make mistakes
âś… Correct them together

Most importantly, we create a classroom where mistakes are part of learning—not something to be embarrassed about.
When children feel safe to think, ask questions and try again, that's when real learning begins.

Learning isn't about getting every answer right the first time.
It's about building the confidence to keep thinking until you do.

Helping students succeed isn't just about studying harder—it's about studying sustainably. 🌱

Small habits like getting enough sleep, taking breaks, and following a realistic study routine can help students stay motivated and perform at their best.

✨ Try this spelling game at home!
Instead of asking your child to copy each spelling word 10 times, try this simple activity.
📝 Write ONE word with the wrong spelling.
đź‘€ Ask your child to spot the mistake and correct it.
Children often enjoy being “the teacher” and fixing mistakes. It turns spelling practice into a fun challenge instead of another worksheet.
But there’s something even more important…
When a child gets the answer wrong, whether it’s in class or at home, our response matters.
At Strait Ace, we encourage our students to:
❤️ Support one another.
❤️ Celebrate effort.
❤️ Learn from mistakes.
We remind them:
❌ Don’t laugh at your friends.
❌ Don’t say, “That’s so easy!”
âś… Encourage them to try again.
Parents can do the same at home.
Instead of saying:
“You should know this already.”
Try saying:
“Good try. Let’s look at it together.”
Children who feel safe making mistakes are much more willing to keep learning.
After all, mistakes aren’t failures—they’re part of the learning process.
