FKA Delegation Visits Fudan University and Attends Shanghai Forum 2026, China

On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, a delegation from the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering (FKA), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), visited the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. The visit aimed to explore and initiate potential research collaborations between UTM and Fudan University in the areas of climate change and environmental engineering. The delegation included academic staff and researchers from FKA, with representation from the Hydraulics and Hydrology Research Group (HHRG) by Dr. Ponselvi Jeevaragagam.

The delegation also attended the Shanghai Forum 2026, held on 24 and 25 April 2026 at the Hyatt On The Bund Shanghai and Fudan University. The sub-forum titled “AI for Sustainable Urban System and Climate Resilience (AISUS+): AI Empowering Urban Sustainable Development and Resilience Building” gathered international scholars and researchers to discuss the role of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), in addressing global challenges such as air pollution. Kuala Lumpur was represented as a potential candidate and observer city to join the AISUS+ initiative, reflecting UTM’s strong commitment to global research engagement.

This initiative marks an important milestone in strengthening academic and research collaboration between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Fudan University.
