Piano Technique Course for Teachers – Starting 30 March 2026

Mr Simon Soh will be conducting a 10-session course on piano technique beginning on 30 March 2026, designed especially for teachers who wish to strengthen the technical foundation of students around Grades 4–5 (UK examination standards).

This course will focus on the essential technical skills and approaches that help intermediate students develop secure technique, musical control, and confidence at this level. Participants will explore practical teaching strategies and repertoire-based technical work that can be applied directly in their own studios.

Teachers are encouraged to bring along their own teaching materials and scores for discussion and practical work during the sessions. Selected scores by composers such as Heller and Bartok will be provided free.

Speed is not everything in music — control is what truly matters. Take Piano Sonata in B-flat major, D.960 by Franz Schubert as an example.
Pianists interpret it very differently. Some perform the entire sonata in about 50 minutes, while others play it in roughly 37 minutes.

Forte Academy’s Annual Concert will be held on 8 March 2026 at our recital hall. The concert provides a platform for our students to showcase their musical achievements and offers them the opportunity to perform and share their music on stage with an audience.

Yesterday’s session on scoring well in ABRSM Theory Grade 6 was short, practical, and filled with enthusiastic participants. Mr Simon Soh shared simple strategies to tackle the first three questions on how to secure a solid pass.

The session was carefully structured to support all learners, whether they’re targeting a straightforward pass or pushing towards distinction in a short time.
