Blue is the New Green: Making Waves Through Erasmus+ | 26 August 2026

The ATU-Net Sharing Session, โ€œBlue is the New Green: Making Waves Through Erasmus+,โ€ was successfully held virtually via Zoom, bringing together 35 participants from various countries and backgrounds.

The session was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Suhana Mohamed Sultan, ATU-Net Coordinator, and commenced with opening remarks delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP) for Malaysia.

The session aimed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet opportunity, particularly from the perspective of a successful grant recipient. The main presentation was delivered by Dr. Bawani Lelchumanan, Senior Lecturer at Sunway University and an Erasmus+ Jean Monnet recipient, who shared her experience and insights throughout the application and implementation process.

Among the key highlights shared during the session were:

๐Ÿ’ŽErasmus+ Grant Focus: Integrate EU Blue Economy policies into existing courses to boost real-world policy analysis and ASEAN impact.

Dates: 14โ€“19 September 2026
Venue: Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Brunei Darussalam
Mode: On-site
Target Participants: Academic staff from ATU-Net member institutions

๐Ÿ’ฐ Funding & Support Categories:
The programme offers partial and self-funded options for selected applicants:

1. Category A (Partially Funded - 4 slots): Includes sponsored accommodation (single occupancy with shared bathroom) and local transportation (airfare excluded) for four (4) selected participants. Priority will be given to applicants from different countries.

2. Category B (Self-Sponsored): Open to self-sponsored participants, up to a maximum total participation of fifteen (25) attendees.

*NOTE: Meal allowances, daily stipends, and travel allowances are to be borne by the participants or their home institutions.

โœจApplication Requirements:
Selected participants will be required to deliver a two-hour guest lecture to students and teachers demonstrating innovations in effective teaching during the programme. As part of your application, you must submit a proposal containing:
โ€ข Proposed lecture title/topic (any engineering topic with teaching innovation embedded).
โ€ข Brief description of the lecture content.

Erasmus+ Info Session: Exploring Mobility, Jean Monnet & EMJM Opportunities | 27 July 2026

The ERASMUS+ Info Session on Student & Staff Mobility (KA171), Jean Monnet Action, and Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) was successfully held virtually via Zoom, bringing together 89 participants from diverse countries and backgrounds.

Organised by the Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net), the session was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Suhana Mohamed Sultan, ATU-Net Coordinator.

The main presentation was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP) for Malaysia. He provided a comprehensive overview of Erasmus+ opportunities, covering the eligibility criteria, application process, and practical strategies for developing competitive proposals.

โ€ข Participation fee waived for two (2) representatives per ATU-Net member institution (first-come, first-served basis).
โ€ขAdditional participants: USD 100.00 per person.
Note: Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and personal expenses (not covered by the organisers).

๐ŸŽค Call for Panelists
We are also pleased to invite interested representatives from ATU-Net member institutions to serve as panelists during the programme. A total of six (6) panelists will be selected (two panelists for each session) for the following panel discussions:

1) SDGs in Action: Bridging Education, Experience, and Sustainable Impact
2) From Lab to Market: Unlocking the Value of Applied Research
3) AI for Integrative Diagnosis: Connecting Traditional Medicine and Modern Healthcare

Institutions wishing to nominate a representative are kindly requested to submit the nominee's name and area of expertise to the ATU-Net Secretariat by 3rd August 2026 for further coordination with the host institution.

๐Ÿ“Œ ATU-Net Steering Committee Meeting | 22 July 2026

The ATU-Net Steering Committee Meeting 2/2026 was successfully held on 22 July 2026, bringing together 50 attendees to discuss the network's ongoing initiatives and future direction.

ATU-Net now comprises 56 member institutions across 13 countries, continuing to strengthen international collaboration in higher education, research, and innovation.

The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan, Chair of the ATU-Net Steering Committee. Members began by reviewing and approving the minutes of the previous Steering Committee Meeting 1/2026 before proceeding with the meeting agenda.

Among the key updates and upcoming initiatives shared were:

๐Ÿ”น APAIE 2027, Kuala Lumpur โ€“ ATU-Net's participation in the conference, hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)

๐Ÿ”น Teaching Mobility Program (mid-September 2026) โ€“ Focusing on engineering and technology, jointly organised by Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Universitas Sebelas Maret, and Batangas State University

๐Ÿ”น International Staff Week 2026 (17โ€“19 August 2026) โ€“ Centred on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and technology transfer, hosted by Phenikaa University

๐Ÿ”น InvENT 2026 (27โ€“28 October 2026) โ€“ A hybrid conference organised by Universitas Brawijaya and Davao del Sur State College, offering opportunities for Scopus-indexed conference proceedings, book chapters, and journal publication support

๐Ÿ”น ERASMUS+ Info Session 3.0 (27 July 2026) - Providing an overview of the following initiatives: Staff and Student Mobility (KA171), Jean Monnet Action & Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM)

The meeting served as a valuable platform to share progress, strengthen partnerships, and plan impactful initiatives that will continue to advance the ATU-Net community.
