We’ve Grown — and So Has Our Space

Chateau Play has officially moved from Eco Botanic to our new home at Sunway Boulevard 88!

What started as a small space with just four walls has now blossomed into a 2-storey learning environment, thoughtfully prepared for our children. One of our favorite additions? An outdoor balcony within our premise — a space where little ones can explore, move, and connect with nature through meaningful outdoor activities.

Our Learning Journey So Far

Over the past months, our children have been on beautiful learning adventures:

From “All About Myself” — discovering family, body parts, the 5 senses, and emotions,
To experiencing cultural celebrations like Chinese New Year and Malay culture,
And diving into the wonders of the animal kingdom 🐾

What’s Next?

As we step into the second half of the year, even more exciting explorations await:
✈️ Transportation
👩‍🚒 Community Helpers
🌎 Travel Around the World
❄️ Seasons and more…

Each theme is carefully designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and a deep love for learning through play 💛

Enrolment Now Open

We are opening up more spots in our new space, and trial classes are now available.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start your child’s journey with us — this might just be it.

This week at Chateau Play, we went on a little adventure inspired by We're Going on a Bear Hunt 🐻

From grassy plains to the ocean, swamp, jungle, and Arctic… the children journeyed through the animal kingdom before arriving at the mysterious bear cave.

“Uh oh…” “Swishy swashy…” “Splash splosh…”

The repeating rhythm of the story helps children build working memory — remembering what comes first, what comes next — while simple phrases keep even our youngest learners engaged and participating.

At the “bear cave”, with torch lights in hand, they discover:
one shiny wet nose
two big furry ears
two big goggly eyes

More than just a story, this is child-led exploration through play. As children recreate and extend the story in their own way, they build creativity, language, and confidence — forming the foundation for long-term learning.

If you are curious how child led play works, we are now open for May trial classes — come join us in experiencing the magic!

This week, we stepped into a new theme — our Safari animal exploration 🦒🦓 🦁

What excited the children most wasn’t a specific “toy”, but a Safari jeep…

This “jeep” was once just a large meeting table —
one that was left behind when we first took over the atelier.
Heavy, fixed, and seemingly meant for only one purpose.

But instead of removing it, we chose to pause and ask:
What else can this become?

And so, over time, it transformed.

During our Ocean Animals theme, it became our very own "sea life"
In our Malay Culture Week, it turned into a Kampung house.
In our Arctic exploration, it was reimagined as a ski resort.
And this week, it became a Safari jeep — ready for adventure.

The children climbed on, took on roles, decided where to go,
and built stories together as they journeyed through their safari.

What matters to us is not what an object is,
but how a child learns to see it.

When we define a table as just a table,
its possibilities end there.

But when we step back, shift our perspective,
and allow imagination to take the lead—
the same object can become anything.

And this is what we hope to nurture in our children:
the ability to think beyond fixed definitions,
to imagine freely, and to create meaning from the world around them.

In this kind of environment,
children are not just participating in activities—
they are expressing, connecting, problem-solving, and making sense of their experiences.

If you’ve been curious about how learning can look and feel different,
we warmly invite you to come experience it with us 🌿

We offer trial sessions (Tuesday–Thursday | 9:30–11:30am),
and weekend themed playdates for families to join as well.

We’re going on a Bear Hunt… and you’re invited!

To wrap up our Animal Kingdom series, we’re bringing one of our most loved stories to life through full-body play and imagination.

On 25 April (Saturday), children will step right into the story:
🌿 swish through tall grass
💧 splash across rivers
🟤 squelch through muddy paths
❄️ wander into a snowy surprise
🐻 and finally… meet the bear

Each scene is thoughtfully designed for sensory exploration and role play, where children don’t just “learn the story”—
they experience it, with their whole body and all their senses.

This playdate is also a little celebration—
a joyful wrap-up of our Animal Kingdom journey, and a chance for new families to experience what learning feels like at Chateau Play.

If you’ve been curious about our approach, this is a beautiful way to begin ❤

Come join us on this little adventure.

“Don’t let them get dirty.”
…or maybe we should rethink that 👀

Because in between the water, ice, mud and textures—
something magical is happening.

Not noise.
Not mess.
But deep, focused learning.

A child pouring the same cup again and again—
is building concentration.

Tiny hands squeezing, scooping, exploring—
are making sense of the world.

The “mess” we see?
It’s actually curiosity at work.

The repetition?
That’s how confidence is built.

The play?
That’s how learning begins.

No worksheets.
No drilling.
Just real experiences that stay with them.

Because childhood isn’t meant to be kept clean and quiet—
it’s meant to be felt.

If this feels like the kind of learning you want your child to grow up with,
come see it for yourself 🌿

They weren’t ‘learning Arctic animals’… they were living it!

No worksheets.
No memorising animal names by rote.

Instead—
Children stepped into an Arctic world.
Cold textures. Wet and dry sensory play.
Hands-on exploration through all their senses.

This week, the space transformed—
into a skiing resort that came to life in the classroom.
A zipline appeared, quietly inviting courage.
Snowy worlds, movement, imagination… all unfolding through play.

And suddenly, children weren’t just learning about arctic animals—
they were inside arctic world, living it, exploring it with their whole bodies.

And in that process—
They talked more. Tried more. Imagined more.
Because real learning doesn’t stay in the head.
It moves through the body first.

If you’d like to see learning like this in real life,
you’re warmly welcome to visit us.

We offer trial sessions for our weekday 3-day option (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday), 9:30–11:30am.

DM us to find out more or to arrange a visit!

Sometimes, it’s in these quiet, flowing moments…
that you really get to see how children learn.

In this little glimpse, you might notice—
no one is rushing them, no one is telling them exactly what to do…
and yet, so much is happening.
Some children are repeating the same action again and again—
scoop, pour, try again.
That’s not “just playing”—that’s focus, coordination, and problem-solving in the making.

Some are watching quietly from the side,
taking it all in before they’re ready to join.
That’s their way of building confidence and understanding the space.

And some are already deep in their own little world—
turning simple materials into stories, roles, and imagination.

Different children, different rhythms—
and all of it is learning.

At Chateau Play, we don’t rush this process.
We give it space, we stay close, and we trust that
when children feel safe and curious… they naturally lean into learning.
If you’ve ever wondered what a calm, child-led environment looks like in real life,
this is a little peek 💛

You’re always welcome to come by,
to observe, to experience,
and to let your child explore it in their own way ✨

I used to be afraid of animals.
Dogs, cats, birds, chickens, ducks, rabbits—
almost every “lovely” animal… I was afraid of.
Growing up, I was told:
they are dirty,
they carry germs and viruses,
they might bite or scratch,
they are troublesome—shedding fur, making a mess,
and expensive to care for.
So I grew up without the companionship of animals.
And only much later in life did I realise—
there was a quiet sense of loss in that.
Even a little bit of shame.
Because deep down,
I always knew…
I loved them.
I was just afraid.
______________
As I grew older,
I started spending time with friends who had pets—
who treated them as family.
And something in me shifted.
I realised… maybe fear is something I can unlearn.
I realized—if those are real concerns,
then I can simply find ways to meet them with care and thoughtfulness.
I can keep them healthy and clean through regular cleaning.
I can provide safe spaces so they feel secure, and we can interact gently.
I can learn their signals, so both they and I can live happily together.
I can plan responsibly for food, shelter, and medical care,
so that every challenge becomes an opportunity to love them well.
______________
And then, Lumi came into our lives.
Lumi was a stray cat who had been wandering around Eco Botanic for about three years.
She stayed near construction sites,
and thankfully, kind people in the neighbourhood would feed her.
Our atelier used to be there.
One day in November 2025,
she was sitting right at the bottom of the stairs I needed to walk up.
I gently “meowed” at her—
and she came to me, without hesitation.
I was still a little afraid.
That inner child voice was still there—
Will she scratch me? Bite me? Attack me?
But I prepared some food for her anyway.
She looked so thin… so hungry.
After eating, she left.
And I didn’t see her again for a week.
______________
The second time I saw her,
it was a heavy downpour.
She walked upstairs on her own
and sat quietly outside, waiting for me to open the door.
She looked helpless.
Like she just needed a place to stay dry… and feel safe.
I let her in for a few hours.
And for the first time, I thought—
Maybe I could give her a home.
But after the rain stopped,
she meowed and meowed, asking to leave.
So I let her go.
______________
That night, there was another storm.
And I regretted it deeply.
Where would she go?
Would she be safe?
That was the moment I made a promise to myself—
If she ever comes back again, I will keep her.
______________
A few days later,
she came back.
And again… it was a stormy day.
This time, I didn’t hesitate.
I chose her.
And I chose to be responsible for her life.
______________
We brought her for vaccinations,
had her spayed, groomed, and cared for.
She took some time to adjust—
from a life of freedom and wandering,
to one of safety and being cared for.
Between freedom and safety,
I chose safety for her.
______________
And that’s when I truly got to know her.
She is gentle.
Easy-going.
Incredibly intuitive.
And so naturally…
she became part of our children’s world.
______________
Sometimes, a child would say,
“I don’t feel like coming to school today…”
But when they hear,
“You can play with Lumi today,”
something shifts.
They find their courage again.
______________
Lumi is not just a pet.
She is a family member, a bridge.
For children who are slower to warm up,
who find it hard to connect with others—
it becomes easier through her.
They learn to wait for their turn to feed her,
to observe her responses,
to approach gently, to connect.
______________
We also guide children to understand “cat language”:
🐾 When Lumi gives a slow blink
→ she is showing trust and affection
🐾 When her tail flicks quickly or her ears go back
→ she may feel uncomfortable and needs space
🐾 When she comes close and gently rubs against you
→ she is seeking connection
Children begin to understand—
animals have voices too.
And when Lumi shows she needs space,
we stop. We respect that.
We don’t teach children to “do whatever they want” with animals.
We guide them to—
🌱 understand others’ feelings
🌱 respect boundaries
🌱 show gentle, genuine care
______________
We believe this deeply:
A child’s relationship with animals
can be one of the most natural ways to develop empathy.
Through these everyday moments, children are building—
✨ emotional awareness
✨ empathy and compassion
✨ self-regulation
✨ social connection
Because they are not learning through instruction—
they are learning through feeling and responding.
______________
We are so lucky to have Lumi.
She found a home.
And in her own quiet way,
she has become something very special in our space.
And perhaps,
we are learning alongside the children too—
how to love a little more gently.
______________
Sometimes, as adults, we may find ourselves wondering—
what do we receive in return, for all that we give?
And yet, when we slow down enough to notice…
Lumi has already been giving, all along.
Her trust.
Her quiet presence.
The way she chooses to come close, again and again.
A kind of love that is steady, uncomplicated,
and never asks for anything back.
______________
In our space,
we don’t focus on teaching children
“what can I get in return?”
Instead, we gently guide them to experience—
🌱 what it means to give
🌱 how to care, without conditions
🌱 how to be thankful, rather than keeping score
Because sometimes,
the most meaningful things we receive in life
are never the ones we can measure.
