Exciting day at Menara OUM! Today, we are proud to co-host the Southeast Asia Regional Finals of the 9th Global Competition on Design for Futures (GCD4F) 2026.

Alongside our co-hosts, Beijing Normal University (BNU) and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, we are bringing this major World Digital Education Alliance (WDEA) event to life.

Here is what’s happening today:

16 teams from Malaysia, China and Vietnam are competing across three critical tracks: AI for Science, AI for Education, and AI for Society.

The challenge? Developing AI-powered solutions to real-world problems.

The prize? A ticket to the Global Finals this October.
As OUM President/Vice-Chancellor Prof Dato' Dr Ahmad Izanee Awang shared: “AI is already transforming the way we learn, work, and solve problems. The challenge is not simply to use AI, but to use it wisely and responsibly.”

Prof Chen Guangju, Vice Dean of BNU's Smart Learning Institute remarked: The great challenges of our times transcend national boundaries."

He urged the participants to not be afraid to be unconventional in coming up with their AI solutions.
