We’re getting ready to step into our new Restaurant Theme!
But before becoming little chefs, we wanted our children to experience where their food actually begins.
Flour that feels soft and powdery.
Add a little water… mix, squeeze, press and knead.
And slowly, it becomes dough! 🤍
Yes, it’s messy. 😂
Hands covered in flour, sticky fingers everywhere — but this is exactly how we love to learn.
For our SPED learners, sensory play is more than just “play”. Through touching, squeezing, kneading and exploring different textures, they are building sensory awareness, fine motor skills, hand strength and confidence with unfamiliar materials.
Some jumped straight in.
Some needed a little time.
Some loved the sticky texture, while others were still learning to accept it.
And all of those responses are okay. 🌱
We don’t rush straight to the finished food. We let them explore the ingredients, understand the process, and experience every little step along the way.
