En. Mark Chan Chow Loong, Vice-Chairman of FMM Perak Branch, moderated the Fireside Chat session. The invited industry leader was YBhg. Datoโ Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon, President of The Society of Logisticians, Malaysia (LogM) and the welcoming address was delivered by En. Chua Kay Lin, Branch Chairman.
The session was also attended by Ts. Ms Amy Ooi, Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Section of The Society of Logisticians, Malaysia (LogM), En. Edmund KK Wong, Vice-Chairman of FMM Perak Branch and En. Vince Lew Kin Soon, Chairman of the FMM Perak Branch Youth Sub-Committee. A total of fifteen (15) representatives from member companies attended the session.
The Fireside Chat mentoring session aimed to inspire and guide members of the Youth Sub-Committee through the insights and experiences shared by distinguished industry leaders. Although the session was initially designed specifically for Youth Sub-Committee members, it was later opened to all members, as the Sub-Committee believed that the knowledge and perspectives shared would be valuable and beneficial to a wider audience.
YBhg. Datoโ Log. Ts. Dr. Chang delivered a presentation and shared his insights on various aspects of logistics and global trade, including military logistics, the evolution and perception of professional logisticians in Malaysia and their collective contributions to the industry.
He also covered key topics such as global logistics systems, including intermodalism and multimodalism, global business networks, seaborne trade and prevailing geopolitical challenges. In addition, he highlighted developments in logistics infrastructure, including the proposed Kra Canal, Kulim Airport, Penang International Airport and its hinterland, Perak LUMIC, Perlis Inland Port, Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), as well as seaport and Inland Container Depot (ICD) development.
The session also addressed current business challenges impacting the logistics and supply chain ecosystem.
