Behind the Scenes: Confronting Cyberbullying, Cyberstalking & Mental Health

The School of Computing & Information Technology successfully organized “Behind the Scenes: Cyberbully, Cyberstalking & Mental Health,” an impactful programme aimed at raising awareness about the often-hidden effects of online harassment on mental well-being.

We were honored to have Ms. Thiresyinie A/P Tamil Chelvam, a Psychology Lecturer, lead an insightful sharing session. She offered valuable perspectives on recognizing harmful online behaviours, understanding their psychological consequences, and taking proactive steps toward positive digital citizenship. Participants walked away with a deeper awareness of the emotional toll caused by cyberbullying and cyberstalking, along with practical strategies to protect themselves and support others.

A heartfelt thank you to the organizing committee, crew members, emcees, and photographer for their dedication and teamwork, which made the event flow seamlessly.

Through this initiative, the School of Computing & Information Technology reaffirms its commitment to nurturing digitally responsible individuals and fostering a safer, more respectful, and supportive online community for all.

SENTRAL College was honoured to host 30 school principals for an insightful and engaging session on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.

Conducted by SENTRAL's esteemed team of lecturers, the session combined practical demonstrations with hands-on activities, providing participants with first-hand experience in using various AI tools. The principals explored how AI can enhance teaching and learning, improve productivity, streamline administrative tasks, and support more effective decision-making in educational institutions.

As education continues to evolve in the digital era, embracing AI is becoming increasingly important for school leaders. We are delighted to contribute to this journey by equipping educators with the knowledge and skills needed to harness emerging technologies responsibly and effectively.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Pulau Pinang (JPN) for initiating and supporting this meaningful effort to empower educational leaders with digital knowledge and future-ready skills. On 20/5/026, the Student Representative Council (SRC) brought students “Resume That Speaks: Stand Out on Paper”—a high-energy workshop designed to help them shine brighter on paper and beyond, whether hunting for an internship or a first full-time role.

The event featured the incredible Ms. Suriati, a Senior Lecturer at SENTRAL College Penang and a true expert in career readiness and student development, who shared practical, real-world strategies to craft professional and eye-catching resumes, highlight personal strengths with confidence, understand current industry expectations, and effectively showcase academic achievements, co-curricular involvement, and soft skills.

The interactive workshop and lively Q&A session were absolute highlights, leaving students feeling more confident, employable, and career-ready. This is the Positive Edge at SENTRAL—preparing students not just for a job, but to lead, contribute, and grow.
