‘H’ for Harper! 🎉
We celebrated the world of Eric Carle for our May Holiday Programme! Eric Carle’s stories came to live with storytelling, songs, movements and crafts! The children’s artwork were inspired by his unique style of illustration and popular books, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?’, ‘Chicka Chicka Boom Boom’, and ‘Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me.’

Play is children’s “work” and we take play seriously at MapleBear. It was indeed a proud moment when our 3 year olds transitioned from parallel play (play with similar toys without interaction) and associative play (sharing but individual goals) to cooperative play yesterday!
The children put together and built a long path and played together! We put together a Play Room especially for the little ones to explore loose parts play, pretend play, self-discovery, and creative expression. Bravo to Tiggy-Winkle class children!

Our Spinach Project extends beyond sowing seeds and watering the sprouts. We observed the magical growth and waited patiently for time to harvest. The children contemplated and picked the bigger leaves, leaving the rest to grow. They pinched the leafy greens and soft stems and then gently washed them thoroughly, ready for cooking. We cooked the spinach together and enjoyed it for lunch.

It was a beautiful holistic learning experience! By nurturing the spinach from seed to plate, our children were actively engaged in a multidisciplinary curriculum that seamlessly blends science, math, life skills (fine and gross motor skills), and nutrition into one delicious, memorable project.
