Dr. Ooi Woi Seng obtained his PhD in the field of computational intelligence from University Science Malaysia (USM) in 2018, Master Degree in the field of computer vision and image processing from USM in 2007, Bachelor Degree (with First Class Honours) in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from University of Lincolnshire & Humberside in 2001, and his Higher National Diploma in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering from Penang Skills Development Centre in 1997.

With his multidisciplinary knowledge and practical research skills, he has won several awards, including Silver Medal in ICT Awards at the 15th International Invention, Innovation, Industrial Design & Technology Exhibition (ITEX), Sanggar Sanjung Award by USM, Merit Award of "Best of R&D" of MSC-APICTA Awards, and Merit Award of "Best of R&D" of APICTA Awards in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He also received University Cradle Investment Programme (U-CIP) research grant, Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Pasca-Siswazah scholarship, and MyPhD scholarship during his research studies.

Dr. Ooi Woi Seng has more than fifteen years of experience serving private higher education institutions. He has completed the Train the Trainer (TTT) certification programme by HRDF, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Python Programming from IBM Innovation Centre for Education (ICE). He is a certified trainer and teaches courses that focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and automation. His current research focuses on design and development of computational intelligence-based autonomous learning systems for pattern recognition, optimisation, condition monitoring, and decision support.
