Why do employees continue to work unsafely?
Because they believe the chance of getting hurt is low.

One of the most common unsafe behaviors in overhead crane operations is this:
👉 standing or positioning themselves under a suspended load.

Why do they do it?

To control the load

To prevent swinging

To “make sure it’s safe”

Do they know the load can fall?
Yes.
They know.

But here’s the dangerous belief:

> “It can happen… but not today.”
“Someone might get hurt… but not me.”

So how do we handle this belief?

Not by shouting.
Not by posters.
Not by SOP reminders.

But by creating awareness that hits the mind.

Here’s a simple awareness flow you can use:

1️⃣ Show them a real accident video
2️⃣ Ask: “Why did the load fall?”
3️⃣ Ask them to list reasons why they believe this won’t happen to them
4️⃣ Ask: “What do you think happened to the person in the video?”
5️⃣ Debrief with this message:

> “We come to work to earn money — not death. Agree?”
“So what can you do today to make sure you don’t stand under a suspended load?”
