We tell our children that the Quran is special.

But do they know what makes it unlike any other book?

These are more than interesting facts. They are reminders of the miracle, preservation, and guidance held within the words of Allah.

And the more our children understand the Quran, the more they can recognise it as something meant to guide their lives—not simply a book they learn to recite.

At 𝐐𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭, children learn to read, understand, and reflect on the Quran—so its message becomes something they can carry with them.

Knowing the truth is one thing. Allowing it to change you is another.

During our reflection on Surah Al-‘Alaq, we asked the students:
“𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒉 𝒂𝒔𝒌 𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑰𝒒𝒓𝒂’?” Their answers amazed us!

But then came a harder question."𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆 𝒅𝒐 𝒃𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔—𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉?"

It happened during the Prophet’s ﷺ time too. Abu Jahl did not reject the truth because it was unclear. His pride and position stood in the way.

This is why our children need more than the ability to recite the Quran.

Let them ask.
Let them reflect.
Let them wrestle with the difficult questions.

Because through the Quran, they learn how to recognise the truth—and how easily the heart can turn away from it.

And no matter how knowledgeable, successful, or powerful we become, Surah Al-‘Alaq brings us back to where we began:

We were created by Allah.
We remain dependent on Allah.
And everything we have comes from Him.

“What do I do when I encounter this symbol (۩) in a Quran verse?”🤔

Whether you’re performing Solah or just reciting the Quran in your free time, Sujud Sajadah (also known as Sujud Tilawah) is the Sunnah!

To perform Sujud Sajadah, you must:

🍉Be in a pure state (having wudhu’)
🍉 Be facing the Qiblah
🍉 Cover your Aurat

There are 14 - 15 Sajdah verses in the Quran, each one glorifying Allah S.W.T. and His Majesty ✨

Recognising the beauty of the verses—beyond just reciting them—must be our children’s default dynamic with the Quran.

Not every moment of guidance feels profound.

The more time we spend understanding the Quran, the more familiar its guidance becomes—until its words begin to meet us in the smallest moments of our day.

Because 𝙏𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙗𝙗𝙪𝙧 does not end when we close the mushaf.

It continues in the choices we make after.

May the Quran become the voice we return to before we speak, respond or act. آمين

We say “SABR” so often.

Be patient. Just wait. Don’t complain.
But when we look at how Allah speaks about Sabr in the Quran, we find so much more.

Sabr can be beautiful.
It is having the courage to remain steadfast.
It is paired with Solah.
Those who practise it are loved by Allah, accompanied by Him, and rewarded without limit.

What do you wish someone had told you when you were younger?

Perhaps that you were going to be okay.
That you were never alone.
That the Quran would become a source of happiness.
And that you should never lose hope in Allah.

These are the words our teachers would give their younger selves—the very reminders our tweens may need to hear today.

At 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰 & 𝐆𝐥𝐨, we make space for the conversations we wish we had while growing up.
