Research Management Center (RMC) serves as a depository and management
centre for research grant and as information centre for statistics related to
R&D activities in MMU. Our role and functions are :

• To facilitate and support research activities in MMU
• To manage and monitor the utilisation of research funding in MMU
• To forge good working relationship with external organisations in research

activities
• Establish and maintain linkages between MSC Malaysia-Status Companies and Multimedia Development Corporation
• To administer R&D and related activities such as:
* Process internal and external funding application
* Monitor the utilisation of internal and external research funds
* Financial reconciliation of R&D projects
* Progress monitoring of funded projects
* Conference application using external grants
* Compilation of R&D performance indicators
* Organisation of research seminars and workshops
* Publication of Annual R&D Reports

MMU Research Town Hall 2026 👩‍🏫

The MMU Research Town Hall, led by Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, was held on 28 July 2026 in Melaka Campus and 30 July 2026 in Cyberjaya Campus.

The sessions highlighted MMU’s current research achievements and shared the university’s aspirations to further strengthen its research excellence and impact.

During the interactive Q&A sessions, Dr. Sharlene, Prof. Yusoff, and the Centre of Excellence Directors engaged directly with MMU researchers, addressing questions and exchanging valuable insights.

In addition, Dr. Sharlene and her delegation spent two days in Melaka conducting laboratory visits and holding a mini town hall with the Research Centre Chairs.

The Centre for Management and Marketing Innovation (CMMI), FOB successfully organised a research talk titled "Publications: Tips & Tricks", featuring Professor T. Ramayah from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), one of Malaysia's leading researchers in academic publishing.

The session brought together academic staff and postgraduate students to gain practical insights into the publication journey-from identifying meaningful research gaps and designing quality studies to selecting suitable journals, preparing manuscripts, and responding effectively to reviewers' comments.

The interactive discussion and Q&A session provided participants with valuable strategies to enhance the quality and impact of their scholarly work.

14th July 2026 - A Sharing Session on Securing the Public-Private Research Network (PPRN) Grant by Prof. Dr. Mardeni Roslee was successfully held to provide researchers with valuable guidance on navigating the PPRN grant application process.

The session covered key aspects of the PPRN grant scheme, including its objectives, eligibility requirements, application procedures, proposal preparation strategies, and practical tips for developing impactful, industry-driven research proposals. Participants also gained useful insights into aligning their research with industry needs to enhance the competitiveness and success of their grant applications.

The session served as an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, encouraging greater collaboration between academia and industry while supporting researchers in translating innovative ideas into solutions with real-world impact.

📌MOSTI-MMU Strategic Request for Proposal (SRF) Malaysia–China Progress Monitoring M1

9 July 2026 – A project monitoring meeting was held at MMU Melaka Campus, to review the Milestone 1 Progress Report and assess the latest progress and achievements of the project. The session provided an opportunity to evaluate the project's current status, discuss key milestones, address challenges, and identify the next steps to ensure the project remains on track to achieve its intended objectives.

The meeting was attended by the RM Director and panel members from MOSTI, whose valuable insights, constructive feedback, and recommendations contributed to strengthening the project's implementation and guiding its future direction.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Prof. Koo Voon Chet and his team, as well as all participants, for their commitment, collaboration, and continuous support in driving the successful delivery of this Malaysia–China collaborative research project.
