On 22 August 2026, representing UCSI University, Dato’ Prof. Ahmad Bin Ibrahim was invited by Nanjing Business School to speak at the 2nd China–Southeast Asia Kerry Youth Scientist Forum, held from 21–23 August 2026 at Nanjing University, China. The forum brought together young scientists, researchers and academics from China and Southeast Asia to exchange knowledge and explore emerging regional challenges.

During his session, Dato’ Prof. Ahmad shared insights on the challenges surrounding the circular economy, including the need to rethink how resources are used, managed and retained within economic systems. He highlighted the importance of moving beyond concepts and developing practical approaches that can make circular economy principles work effectively in real-world settings.

The sharing also emphasised the role of innovation, collaboration and cross-border knowledge exchange in advancing sustainable solutions. Through platforms such as the Kerry Youth Scientist Forum, meaningful dialogue between China and Southeast Asia can help inspire new ideas and strengthen collective efforts towards a more sustainable and circular future.

The final day of the Harmoni-Mesra Celebration, held on 19 August 2026, brought the three-day celebration to a meaningful close at UCSI University. Organised by the Institute of Languages, the programme continued to bring the spirit of Harmoni-Mesra to life through cultural booths, interactive activities, lively performances and opportunities for meaningful engagement, bringing people together to appreciate different perspectives on unity and diversity.

The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances, including Dikir Barat by Taman Cuepacs Primary School, Zapin by Bandar Seri Putra Primary School, Sabah and Sarawak Ethnic Dance by Desa Baiduri Primary School, Zapin by Royal Military College, Gamelan by Damai Perdana Secondary School, and an Orchestra Performance by UCO. This was complemented by a Cultural Exhibition and Tour, with participation from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and various UCSI student clubs, showcasing Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage and student-led initiatives.

The closing session featured closing remarks by Prof Dr Zuraidah Mohd Don, Director of the UCSI Institute of Languages, followed by an Appreciation and Certificate Presentation Ceremony to recognise the contributions of those involved in the celebration. The programme concluded with the singing of “Malaysia MADANI” and “Tanggal 31 Ogos”, followed by the recitation of the Rukun Negara, bringing the three-day celebration to a meaningful close.

The Harmoni-Mesra Celebration brought together members of the UCSI community, external organisations, schools and cultural groups in a shared celebration of unity, diversity and Malaysian culture, reflecting the importance of creating spaces where people from different backgrounds can connect, learn from one another and celebrate what brings us together.

Activity Booths at the Harmoni-Mesra Exhibition brought the UCSI University community together to celebrate unity in diversity through meaningful and interactive activities. The exhibition featured booths by the Institute of Creative Arts & Design (ICAD), UCSI Trust, Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS), Group Sustainability Office (GSO), Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management (FHTM), The Blue Ribbon (TBR) and Bodhi Homecare Charity.

At the GSO booth, students and staff took part in the Post-it Appreciation “A Kind/Nice Compliment to Someone” activity, where they wrote positive messages and appreciation notes for peers, lecturers, staff and colleagues. They also shared their hopes for the country through the “My Hope for Malaysia in 2050” board. Through “Harmony in 15 Tongues,” visitors learned four simple words — Thank You, Peace, Sorry, and Nice — in 15 languages spoken by UCSI’s international students, celebrating the diversity of our campus community.

Reflecting the Harmoni of Heart, the activities encouraged participants to spread kindness and appreciation in their everyday interactions — offering compliments to lecturers and colleagues, thanking cleaners and security guards to brighten their day, smiling at vendors and sharing warmth with the people who serve us, and expressing gratitude to parents and guardians. Through these simple gestures, the activities highlighted how kindness, respect and understanding can help build a more inclusive, connected and harmonious community, bringing the spirit of Harmoni-Mesra to life.

On 17 August 2026, in conjunction with Malaysia’s upcoming Merdeka celebration, UCSI University brought the spirit of Harmoni-Mesra to campus through the Harmoni-Mesra Campus Programme, celebrating unity, cultural diversity and community through meaningful engagement. The programme brought together partners, institutions and community representatives through cultural performances, a forum and meaningful conversations, creating opportunities to appreciate Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage.

We were honoured to welcome Tuan Zulkifli Hashim, Director-General of the Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN), who joined us and officiated the programme. The event also featured a keynote address by Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Omar Abdul Rahman, FASc, Patron of the Harmoni Mesra Programme, whose insights highlighted the importance of unity, mutual understanding and cultural harmony. The celebration was further strengthened by the participation of New Straits Times Group, represented by Madam Farah Naz Karim, Group Editor-in-Chief, and Istana Budaya.

The programme also featured the forum “Merdeka and the Media: Navigating Truth, Unity and Diversity in Modern Malaysia,” alongside a “Bawang Putih and Bawang Merah” performance by UCSI Early Childhood Education students and a Sesi Berbalas Pantun by FOSSLA faculty members.

The programme brought together individuals and organisations from different backgrounds to celebrate Malaysia’s rich cultural diversity and shared values. Through meaningful conversations, cultural expressions and community participation, the celebration reflected the spirit of Harmoni-Mesra and the importance of fostering greater understanding, connection and unity within society. 🇲🇾🤝

UCSI University and Liberty To Learn Berhad (LTL) sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to establish a framework for collaboration to support suitably qualified refugee students in accessing higher education opportunities at UCSI University.

Subject to programme availability, funding and relevant approvals, the collaboration supports eligible refugee students through access to academic programmes, admissions guidance, student support and career-development opportunities.

Through this MoA, UCSI University and LTL provide meaningful educational pathways for eligible refugee students, enabling them to develop their capabilities and contribute positively to their communities and society.

UCSI University proudly presented the 24th Annual Public Health Campaign 2026 on 25 July 2026 under the theme “Protection is Power, Love with Responsibility.” This year’s campaign focused on HPV and HIV prevention, aiming to break the stigma, raise awareness, and empower the community through education, prevention, and responsible choices. HIV is today largely transmitted sexually, with over 70% of new cases affecting those aged 20–39, while cervical cancer caused by HPV remains the fourth most common cancer among women in Malaysia.

Led by students from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the campaign featured FREE health screenings, educational booths, and engaging exhibitions. Visitors had the opportunity to take part in screenings including HIV, syphilis, hepatitis C, body fat, blood glucose, and more, while gaining valuable knowledge about health, prevention, and responsible choices.

Held at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, the campaign served as a meaningful platform to promote health awareness, early prevention, and informed decision-making, while encouraging open conversations around HPV, HIV, and sexual health. Through these efforts, the campaign contributed towards building a healthier, more compassionate, and well-informed community.

On 11 August 2026, UCSI University continued its Sustainability and ESG Training, bringing students together to deepen their understanding of sustainability, ESG principles, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

💡 The session provided an opportunity for participants to connect sustainability concepts with real-world challenges, while exploring how ESG considerations are increasingly becoming part of decision-making across different sectors. Through engaging activities and discussions, students were encouraged to look beyond the classroom and consider sustainability from a broader perspective.

🌍 Every conversation and every new perspective brings us closer to building a more sustainable future. Thank you to all participants for being part of the journey!
