🎹 Let It Be - The Finale of seven videos 🎢

The seventh and final video of this little musical journey - Birgitta playing Let It Be, specially requested by her father, Mr Robert. πŸ™πŸ»

Nicely performed, Birgitta! I love it as much as your father did. 😘

And just before I ended the video, look closely... Mr Robert's right hand can be seen stretching out, almost as if giving his approval and appreciation for her playing. What a lovely little father-daughter moment! πŸ₯°

Bravo, Birgitta! πŸ‘πŸ»

Birgitta is currently pursuing her Master's in Music, having already done fantastically well in her degree. Wishing her the very best of luck as she continues her musical journey. May she keep growing, creating and excelling in her career. 🧑

Looking back at all seven videos, what a wonderfully entertaining and spontaneous evening of music it was! From hymns singing to instrumental performances, it was a joy to witness this talented family making music together.

Mr Robert certainly invested in music and in his children well. His investment has blossomed into something truly beautiful.

May my beloved former students continue to do well, excel in their chosen careers and always keep music close to their hearts. 🎹

Bravo, Abeysekra family! What a beautiful way to end the seven-video series. 🎊

Video 6 of 7 - Yellow Jacket by Shaun Martin

Bernardine takes the spotlight with a solo performance of Yellow Jacket by Shaun Martin.

As an active πŸ₯ drummer who also gives drum lessons, her left foot simply cannot stay still! πŸ«£πŸ˜…
Perhaps the drummer in her just refuses to sit quietly while the pianist is playing!

Love the way she performed this song - wonderfully played with great energy and character. πŸ‘πŸ»β€οΈ

A fantastic solo performance!

One more video to go in this spontaneous
Abeysekra family music sessions! 🎢

🎢 SWAY - Abeysekra Family - Video 5

Another lively trio performance of "Sway". This time with Birgitta taking the lead, Bernardine an accompanist and Basil on base. 🎹🎸

This is the last trio in this series. Two more videos are coming next - solo performance by Bernardine and Birgitta respectively. 😊

A true live performance. The tempo picked up after the first half and went a little crazy... but in a good way! 😁 Still under control, still together and most importantly, having fun with the music.

An interesting and enjoyable performance. Fantastic! Bravo to three of you! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Fly Me To The Moon - Live Music by the Abeysekra siblings.

The fourth video in this seven-part musical journey brings us to a beautiful love song, "Fly Me To The Moon".

At the grand piano, Bernardine is on the far right, Birgitta in the center and Basil on the near left, with Birgitta leading the performance.

What makes this session so special is that all the three siblings are accomplished musicians in their own right.

πŸ₯ Bernardine plays electone, piano, flute, drums and multiple percussion instruments. She is a composer, performer, arranger and educator.

🎷 Birgitta plays electone, piano and saxophone. She is a pianist, keyboardist and composer/arranger. And she is currently pursuing her Master's in Music.

🎸 Basil plays electone, piano, guitar and bass. He is currently sharing his musical knowledge by giving guitar and bass lessons.

From electone to piano, from strings to winds and percussion, their musical abilities cover a wonderful range of instruments. Yet here they are simply enjoying live music together as siblings. 🧑

Here it is heartwarming to see how music, which was part of their lives from their younger days, continues to bring them together today.

🎹🎢 Three siblings. One grand piano. A lifetime of music.

And now let their music take us to the moon.πŸŒ›βœ¨

Venus playing Rally To The Square.

Playing confidently together with the orchestral background music, Venus demonstrated a clear contrast in dynamics, good balance between both hands, accurate rhythm and steady pulse, as well as even articulation throughout the performance. πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Shanning playing Westminster Chimes. πŸ””

When Shanning first learned this piece, she struggled with maintaining a steady pulse and keeping the correct left-hand posture. There was definitely room for improvement.

After I spoke with her father, he began supervising and guiding her practice sessions at home. According to him, Shanning enjoys practising when he is by her side.

And voila... 😱 what a transformation! Not only did her playing become much steadier and more confident, she also memorized the entire piece.

This is a wonderful reminder that improvement begins with the willingness to learn and the consistency to practice. If a four-year-old can embrace corrections and make such remarkable progress, imagine what is possible when we all choose to keep learning.

πŸ‘πŸ» Well done, Shanning! I am so proud of you.

Video 3 of 7 - The Abeysekra Family

Birgitta playing the beautiful "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by Eileen, Basil and Bernardine in song. πŸŽΉπŸŽ™οΈ

This recording features the first verse and chorus, captured during a spontaneous family worship session.

Watching them sing and play together brings back many precious memories. During their school days, they faithfully served in church. Besides learning the piano, they also pursued other musical training and became proficient in multiple instruments.

Like many students, they had to balance school exams, co-curricular activities, tuition classes and music lessons. They were not simply relying on talent, they nurtured the gifts God had given them through dedication, perseverance, disciplined time management and clear goals. πŸ€πŸπŸ₯…βš½πŸ₯Ž

As their piano teacher, I have always been deeply impressed by their commitment, steady progress, excellent exam results and many achievements. More importantly, I am grateful to have been part of their musical journey and to have had the privilege of helping them grow into the wonderful musicians and people they are today.

May this simple hymn be a reminder to always praise the Lord, for truly, How Great Thou Art. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ§‘

As promised, here is the second video from the Abeysekra family's joyful music gathering. 🫰🏻

This time, they sang the beautiful hymn "Holy Forever". It was a completely spontaneous worship session, with Bernardine leading the singing, Basil accompanying on the piano, while their mother Eileen and Birgitta joined in harmony.

The recording began in the middle of the hymn and I also trimmed the introduction and ending during editing. As a result, this is an incomplete version. But I hope it still conveys the beauty, sincerity and joy of this family worship moment.

May this hymn bring peace, hope and encouragement to your day. Happy August! 🧑

Some moments are never planned - they simply happen and they become the most treasured memories. ❀️

After St. Anne's Feast, the Abeysekra family visited my Alma house for the very first time. The whole family was there : Robert and Eileen (parents) and their children Brendan, Bernardine, Basil, Birgitta and Blaise. πŸ€—

Before I had a chance to get my phone ready, Basil was already at my grand piano, accompanying his mother as she sang the beautiful hymn "Holy, Holy, Holy". By the time I started recording, the music had already begun 🀭. I even stopped recording before the hymn ended because I was worried my phone might run out of storage! 🫣

It may not be a perfect recording, but it perfectly captured the warmth of the evening. Seeing everyone feel so comfortable in my home, enjoying one another's company and making music together, brought me so much joy. ☺️

This is the first of seven videos from a truly memorable evening. I hope this timeless hymn brings peace, hope and God's blessings to everyone who listens. πŸ™πŸ»πŸŽΉ

What a beautiful and blessed evening! πŸ₯°πŸ™πŸ»

After attending the Saint Anne's Feast Mass, the Abeysekra family and I enjoyed a delicious ikan bakar dinner lovingly prepared by Andy before continuing our gathering at my Alma home.

It was truly heartwarming to hear Bernardine, Basil, Birgitta and Blaise - once my top students - gather around the grand piano once again. There was music, singing, laughter and many precious memories shared. Time flew by so quickly that they only headed home at 2:20am!

I will be sharing the videos over the next few days, one at a time. I hope you will enjoy these special moments as much as we did.

Thank you, Abeysekra family, for a memorable evening filled with music, friendship and God's blessings. ❀️🎹
