Khai Heng narrowly missed a Merit in his recent piano exam.
This result reminds us that in piano playing, it is not only about playing the correct notes. A steady pulse, accurate rhythm and a balanced touch between melody and accompaniment are equally important.
A good effort and another step forward in his musical journey. Well done! ๐ฅฐ๐ช๐ป๐น

It was a pleasure to have Kelly Gooi in class. She has a clear goal - to continue her piano studies beyond Grade 8 and one day, become a piano teacher herself.
I shared that while obtaining Grade 8 is a significant achievement, it is only one milestone in a much longer musical journey. Effective teaching requires not only performance skills, but also deeper musical understanding, continuous learning and a commitment to personal growth.
I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside another passionate adult student. Seeing students pursue their dreams with determination is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.
Wishing Kelly an enjoyable and fulfilling journey ahead. One lesson, one piece and one goal at a time. ๐ฅฐ

Who can spot me? ๐
A page from Upbeat magazine featuring an ABRSM Teacher Seminar back in 2011. (Hint : I am the one in turquoise!) ๐
The gentleman at the grand piano was Bill Thomson, then South East Asia Regional Coordinator for ABRSM.
In those days, I was a familiar face at many ABRSM seminars.
For attending ABRSM seminars as early as 1996 to participating in online professional development programmes today, my belief has remained unchanged to be a better teacher, I must first remain a lifelong student. Nearly three decades on, there is still something new to learn, discover and share with my students. ๐น๐งก
