50 projects, 150 students. One BIG day, and wow… what a day it was. 🥹❤️

On 19 September 2026, SMK Taman Sejahtera came alive with Arus Academy’s Maker Programme Exhibition Day 2026 — bringing together more than 150 students, teachers, families, partners and the wider community to celebrate what students can create when they’re given the space to build.

From coding and robotics to creative problem-solving, our students stepped up to:

💡 Explain their ideas
🔧 Demonstrate their prototypes
🎤 Pitch their projects
🧠 Answer judges’ questions
❤️ And even win over the public with 200+ votes

What made the day even more special? Seeing mak ayah datang, stay from morning till afternoon, cheer for their children, ask about their projects — and even try the prototypes themselves.🥹

A huge thank you to our exhibition partners PPAPP, Cytron & Vitrox, our vendors, teachers, volunteers, families and everyone who came by, supported and made the day happen. Most importantly, to our students:

You shared it.

“Teacher, when can we start learning about technology?”

Our Maker Academy students have been learning about the world and they have been exploring problems in these past few weeks. Problems such as the quality of education, climate change, affordability of clean energy.

We’ve designed the curriculum to be strategic where students understand better what is going on in the world, finding the root cause of problems before jumping into a conclusion and deciding on a solution.

This structured approach will help students to organise their thought process as they become better problem solvers and put their creativity to productive use.

It’s more than just coding or building robots. It’s about shifting from being a consumer of technology to a creator of solutions. 💡

This month, our Maker Programmes officially kicked off in Penang! We aren't just teaching kids how to use tools; we’re teaching them how to learn. Here is how we’re cultivating that mindset across our three core streams:

🌟 Cultivating Curiosity: Neo-Explorers
For our primary and secondary beginners, it’s all about the Inventor’s Mindset. Over 20 weeks, they explore the why behind technology, learning to see problems in the world as opportunities to build something better. 🌍🔧

🚀 Developing Agency: Maker Academy Prime
Our intermediate and advanced students take the lead. This isn't a "one-size-fits-all" syllabus. Whether it’s AI, robotics, or electronics, each student develops a personalized learning journey. 🤖💻

🏠 A Space for Independence: The Maker Studio
Learning shouldn't be confined to a classroom. The Studio is an open environment where students can bring their own passion projects or school work. It’s about giving them the autonomy to explore what they are curious about.

For our March 2026 intake, we have redesigned our Maker Academy Programme with a more intentional, high-tier pedagogy to ensure your child excels in an ever-changing world.

👧🏻 neo-Explorers (Beginners): A learning adventure exploring technology and ideas through block/Python coding, field work, and public speaking.

This past weekend, Arus Academy featured in the Penang International Science Fair with the theme: AI+You ➡️ You. 🤖 We decided to showcase the type of programmes that we do with an AI built-in to accelerate student’s learning. In this Fair, we allowed students and teachers a chance to learn like an Arus student. They practiced being a problem-solver first and foremost before mastering the skills required to solve problems. ✨

This was our way to show that anyone with enough imagination, courage to try, & curiousity can solve problems. We saw how creative people can be if they are given the opportunity to try for themselves. Most visitors didn’t even use our AI model to help them find connections between seemingly unrelated skills to solve the challenge. We had a student who tried to solve a problem of ‘Lost and Found’ section in school being full on items not claimed by students. After getting the ‘skills’ of Biomimicry, Textile Engineering, Data Visualisation & Chemical Mixing, he was able to develop an idea to analyse and sort items, colour code its location in a beehive shelf to maximise storage. This will help students look for their lost items faster and easier. 😁
