This past weekend, Arus Academy featured in the Penang International Science Fair with the theme: AI+You ➡️ You. 🤖 We decided to showcase the type of programmes that we do with an AI built-in to accelerate student’s learning. In this Fair, we allowed students and teachers a chance to learn like an Arus student. They practiced being a problem-solver first and foremost before mastering the skills required to solve problems. ✨

This was our way to show that anyone with enough imagination, courage to try, & curiousity can solve problems. We saw how creative people can be if they are given the opportunity to try for themselves. Most visitors didn’t even use our AI model to help them find connections between seemingly unrelated skills to solve the challenge. We had a student who tried to solve a problem of ‘Lost and Found’ section in school being full on items not claimed by students. After getting the ‘skills’ of Biomimicry, Textile Engineering, Data Visualisation & Chemical Mixing, he was able to develop an idea to analyse and sort items, colour code its location in a beehive shelf to maximise storage. This will help students look for their lost items faster and easier. 😁

Last week we had a very meaningful event in conjunction with Deepavali celebrations.

We thought about how could we make it meaningful for our community which includes the parents of our students. So we asked ourselves, "What if we turn this into a Parent Teacher Day but better?". Parents and students usually dread this sessions in school because teachers might share what sort of issues their child is having. We wanted it to be more relaxed, more of a conversation and more engaging.

We had a great time connecting with parents over dinner. There were conversations about how their child behaves in class, where is their strength and where could they improve on. Parents also got to hear more about how their child could further grow and develop into better learners & better people.

We also had a chance to share about Arus as a whole. We are more than just an after-school STEM class. We run educational programmes across the country and their child gets to learn all of it in the classroom with us.

These are rare moments that we get to meet with parents from all our classes in one place besides during our Exhibition Day. Even so, teachers are running up and down managing the event that we lose the opportunity to speak with parents.
