Previous work by JRC in investigating structural conditions of residential buildings. For this case cracking was observed as the main failure of the residential building.
Cracking in a building element may constitute a defect in a variety of ways. Its occurrence may result in more than one type of defect such as a structures defect, a serviceability defect, and or just an appearance defect. The expected consequence of cracking is unknown until further investigation by a Structural Engineer into the cause of cracking.
