🚀 UTHM-UNEVOC at URIIS 2026 | Bringing TVET Innovation to the Investment Ecosystem!

UTHM-UNEVOC was pleased to participate in the University Research and Innovation Investment Summit (URIIS) 2026, held on 22 September 2026 (Tuesday), providing a platform that connects research, innovation and investment.

Representing UTHM-UNEVOC, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Affero Ismail, Manager of UTHM-UNEVOC, presented and pitched Digital TVET InnoX — an innovative concept leveraging Digital, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Extended Reality (XR) technologies to transform TVET teaching and learning.

The pitching session highlighted the potential of Digital TVET InnoX to translate research capabilities into innovative and scalable learning solutions, while creating opportunities for industry collaboration, investment and wider adoption across the TVET ecosystem.

🌏 Strengthening AI EmpowerED TVET through Strategic Collaboration
UTHM-UNEVOC Centre, in collaboration with UNESCO Jakarta and the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (DPCCE), continues to strengthen efforts towards digital and AI transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
On 21 September 2026, a discussion was held on Phase 2 of the AI EmpowerED programme with DPCCE, focusing on the next phase of implementation and capacity building for TVET educators.
The initiative aims to support DPCCE as a key beneficiary, equipping TVET educators with relevant AI knowledge, digital competencies and practical approaches to integrate AI into teaching and learning.
🤝 Through the continued collaboration between UNESCO Jakarta, UTHM-UNEVOC Centre and DPCCE, we look forward to advancing AI-enabled TVET and strengthening the capacity of educators to prepare learners for the future of work.

🇩🇪 CRAFT Study Trip to Germany | Learning Beyond Borders

A meaningful international learning experience in Koblenz, Germany, as part of the CRAFT (Construction, Resilience and Attractive Future Trades) Study Trip to Germany, represented by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Affero bin Ismail, Ts. Dr. Noor Dina binti Md Amin, and Ir. Ts. Mohamad Ikhwan bin Juhari.

Throughout the programme, the delegation participated in a project workshop at CSC Koblenz Headquarters, visited WEM GmbH to explore clayboard technology for heating and cooling, and visited a sustainably built private house. The programme continued with visits to various TVET training workshops at the Metall Training Center CSC Koblenz, including carpentry, bricklaying, concrete work, plastering and innovation facilities, followed by a visit to the Center for Nutrition and Health (ZEG) and its workshops. The programme concluded with a closing meeting and a walking tour of Koblenz’s historic old town.

The study trip provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and international exposure to innovative TVET practices, sustainable construction and future-oriented skills development.

🌏 UNEVOC UTHM | ADRI Summer Course 2026

A meaningful international educational experience unfolded through the UNEVOC UTHM – ADRI Summer Course 2026, held from 11 to 23 August 2026 at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Pagoh and Parit Raja Campuses, together with various educational, cultural and related learning visits.

The programme brought together participants from ADRI Kalimantan Timur and Malang Indonesia for an engaging series of academic and experiential activities, including:

The programme provided opportunities for participants to experience the academic environment at UTHM, exchange knowledge and perspectives in TVET, and strengthen meaningful connections between Malaysia and Indonesia. The cultural exchange activities further enriched the programme by encouraging participants to learn about Malaysian, Johor and UTHM culture while building new friendships and international networks.

A special appreciation to everyone involved in making this 13-day programme a valuable platform for learning, cultural exchange, collaboration and international engagement.

On 26 August 2026, Dr. Affero Ismail, Director of the UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), was invited as a Guest Speaker for a Knowledge Sharing and Expert Session with ChangemakerYouthLeadershipCamp (CYLC) participants from Indonesia, together with the International Office (IO), UTHM.

Held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the session provided an opportunity to share insights and perspectives on TVET, future skills, youth leadership, innovation, employability, and the future of work, while introducing UTHM as a leading institution in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

A meaningful platform for knowledge sharing, international engagement, and inspiring the next generation of globally minded and future-ready youth leaders.

🌱 Advancing AI for Greener Education: Turning Data into Sustainable Action

A meaningful international engagement in Advanced AI Applications for Greening Education: Turning Data into Sustainable Action, an online webinar co-hosted by UNESCO IITE and Weidong Cloud Education Group on 24 June 2026.

The webinar brought together educators, researchers, practitioners and experts from different countries to explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI), sustainability and education can be connected to address real-world environmental challenges and create meaningful learning experiences.

Representing Malaysia, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Affero bin Ismail, coordinator of UNEVOC center, Malaysia Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training, participated as one of the panelists in the panel discussion, sharing perspectives on the practical realities of integrating AI-related content and tools into the educational environment.

The session highlighted the importance of equipping educators with practical AI knowledge, ready-to-use classroom ideas, and approaches that foster critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving through AI for sustainable development.
