We had an online meeting with parents two days ago regards to the 6 years admission to Primary One next year. The admission is an option to parents and this had put a dilemma to all parents. You can send your child a year earlier to school provided the child is 'ready'.
Now the issue is, parents always make the decision based on the child's academic skills.
READINESS in this context IS NOT about how clever is the child or how good is the academic performance. The academic requirement is very basic only.
READINESS refers to whether the child is able to self management, self take care, and self emotional regulation. The child must be able to take good care of himself, self feed, toileting, able to listen to instruction and perform, discipline to rules, raise and answer question, making friends, initiate a conversation with friends and most importantly having longer attention span in the class. Because that's a formal schooling!
And the readiness is not about the age. I've seen 5yr whom is ready to enter primary one as he/she has reached the maturity level and acquire all above skills and development. But I've also seen some of the 6 years old kids whom are not ready too. Due to the policy, 6yr old children have no choice but to continue to proceed to formal school.
It is quite impossible to request Kindergarten teachers just to focus more in the children's academic skills for the transition. Academic skill only develop once all above soft skills are well develop. These skills are the priorities and should come first before academic.
Please do not send if your child is not ready. Think about what hardwork will the primary teachers face soon. Having a class of students with mature and immature students. Which group shall they focus to first? And will the class routine and lessons going well as per planned?
Entering one year earlier to primary school indeed is something proud, but staying one more year in kindergarten is not a shame.
Think wisely and whatever decision you have made, take the responsibility and begin to commit together with your child.
HAPPY PARENTING 😊

A heartfelt thank you to all new families who joined our orientation day today. We are excited to see your children next Monday ❤️😀
Today we celebrated our Christmas Gift Exchange Day 🎄🎁. The children brought their preloved toys from home and happily exchanged them with their friends, helping old toys find new loving owners.
Through this meaningful activity, the children learned the joy of sharing, kindness, and gratitude, which are the true values of Christmas. They discovered that giving brings just as much happiness as receiving. By reusing toys, the children also learned to care for our environment and to appreciate what they already have.
Smiles, laughter, and Christmas cheer filled the classroom, making this a special and memorable celebration for everyone.
Yesterday at Pumpkinhouse Kindergarten, our little ones entered a world of storytelling and imagination! 🎪💛
We invited our drama teacher to perform a fun and kid-friendly puppet show all about friendship. The children laughed, listened, and learned important values like kindness, sharing, and caring for one another.
After the show, the children joined a creative puppet-making hands-on activity. With their tiny hands and big imaginations, they created their own puppets and learned how to make them move, talk, show emotions, and perform just like in a real drama class!
This activity helped strengthen their creativity, communication, confidence, motor skills, and emotional awareness — all while having a fantastic time. 🌈✨
We love watching our children learn through play!
Small hands, big dreams.
You’ve grown so beautifully.
Happy Kindergarten Graduation! 🌈✨
We had a wonderful Festival & Cultural Carnival last month.
We believe children must be nurtured to embrace diversity. It is important for them to grow up knowing that it is perfectly alright to make friends with people who look different from us—different skin colours, languages, abilities, beliefs, and more. Kindness and respectful are the key to build a harmony nation, especially in a multi racial country like us.
Our children have been spending several months into exploring varieties culture and festivals, and today we made their learning journey became visible to all!
