✨ Self-Esteem Matters ✨

Our Kingsway-ians recently explored the topic of 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙀𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙢 in an engaging and meaningful session led by Mr. Darren Yeoh and Ms. Tan Soh Kheng. 💭🌱

Students learned about the differences between high and low self-esteem, how low self-esteem can be formed and maintained over time, and most importantly – how to rebuild confidence through small, achievable baby steps. 💪

Through a step-by-step guided discussion, students took part in an interactive activity where each group reflected on:
🔹 Negative or unhelpful beliefs learned from family or surroundings
🔹 Positive and encouraging beliefs they can remind themselves of during difficult moments

The session was filled with honest sharing, thoughtful discussions, and valuable reminders that:
💛 “We are enough, we have value, and we can handle what comes next – even the mistakes.”

To wrap up the session, Mr. Darren ended the day with a heartfelt performance of “This Is Me” 🎶✨
A beautiful reminder to embrace who we are, flaws and all.

This round, our on-call counsellors, Mr. Darren Yeoh and Ms. Tan Soh Kheng, shared an eye-opening session on “Social Media Part 2 & Self Identity” ✨

The session kicked off with a deeper look into how social media actually works behind the scenes. Mr. Darren introduced us to the idea of the 𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙀𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙮 and the concept of 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙬 – reminding us that it’s not just about “young people scrolling or gaming.” 📱🎮

We are actually consumers in a multi-billion-dollar market, and if we’re not careful, the distributors (algorithms) can slowly drain our greatest capital – our future potential.

Ms. Tan Soh Kheng then recapped the A.B.C.D. framework and shared practical ways to take back control from social media, including:
⏰ The 20-minute rule
📵 Phone boundaries that actually work
🎮 Gaming without guilt
🔄 Replace, don’t just remove

Our on-call counsellors, Mr. Darren Yeoh and Ms. Aini Ling, recently led an engaging and thought-provoking session titled “𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙂𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣 – 𝙒𝙝𝙤’𝙨 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡?”📱🎮🧠

The talk explored how social media and games are intentionally designed to keep us hooked, and students were taught to recognise signs of overuse, including:
⚠️ Loss of control
⚠️ Mood changes
⚠️ Neglecting sleep, school, or relationships
⚠️ Using screens to escape emotions

An important topic highlighted was Digital Dementia and the A.B.C.D behind it:
𝗔 – Addiction
𝗕 – Behaviour
𝗖 – Control, Compulsion, Consequence & Chronic habits
𝗗 – Design

To make the session even more meaningful, our Principal introduced Meego to Kingsway-ians – a comforting HuggyPal designed to provide hugs and emotional support when needed 🤗
Helpful for anxiety relief, emotional regulation, panic attacks, and more.

In a world full of distractions, let’s continue to stay grounded, support one another, and journey together every step of the way 💙

We had an eye-opening (and super relevant!) session with Ms. Tan Soh Kheng and Mr. Jonathan Lee on “𝗔𝗜 𝗚𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀” 🤖✨

Can we really trust everything we see online? 🤔 Kingsway-ians got to dive into what Artificial Intelligence (AI) actually is, how it works, and how it can shape not just information – but even our mental health.
