Chiltern House is now known as Julia Gabriel Preschool. We are located in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. A new beginning unfolds when a child first steps into school.

At Chiltern House, we believe in making this start a fun and formative one - a foundation that sparks a difference for life. Named after Julia Gabriel's parents' home in England, Chiltern House is a warm, welcoming place for children to learn and grow. By bringing together the warmth and security of home, a holistic preschool curriculum and the magic of speech and drama - we shape a dramatic diffe

rence in a child's foundation. Language. Imagination. Discovery. We engage children to think independently, express themselves confidently and deepen their natural curiosity towards a lifelong love for learning. At Chiltern House, learning is a journey of a lifetime. And it all begins here. Now, that's a dramatically different foundation. Chiltern House is tailored for ages 18 months to 6 years, offering Pre-Nursery to Kindergarten programmes. The preschool is conducted in multilingual environment with English and Mandarin as the medium of communication in class, and a third language - Bahasa Malaysia - introduced at the nursery levels. We nurture care and compassion in our children through regular charity events to raise funds in support of causes we are passionate about.

👋🏻 All set to WELCOME you back to our centre after a revitalising break! 🤗 A big thank you to all families who have joined us for our today as we prepare to commence the new school year.

Our newly rebranded ✨ will run from next Monday, 8th January onwards - first day of Term 1, 2024.

Remember our stripped down centre from a few posts ago? Lots of work and love have gone into the centre over the holidays. The state of panic we found ourselves in as the deadline of school reopening loomed closer was incredibly real as we were still in the thick of our renovation up until this week! Thankfully, the dust has since settled. And we are more than ready now. 💛

Ready to sing our hellos again, and kickstart this new amazing early childhood journey with you and your families! 💪🏻 Bring it on, Monday!

Not all pictured here, but a big group of us, we took this photo back in June last year with the understanding that it was going to be the last we would see of our Chiltern House wall at the centre as back then we were already making gradual transitions to selected areas of our centre. In its place now lies a very pretty row of book shelves which is right now knee deep its own final transformation to becoming our new BookRoom haven.

Thousands of Chiltern House preschoolers have joined us in this amazing journey from our establishment back in 2006, to present time. All of us, inspired by our founder Julia's EduDrama philosophy, all of us empowered to step out of our shells and learn to be the better versions of ourselves. Chiltern House, much like the reason its name was used as Julia Gabriel's preschool, was the shining beacon of warmth that has enveloped us with a treasured sense of home away from home. We may be just a few years shy of a two decade milestone, but this also marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Kuala Lumpur team as we welcome our current and new families to our community as Julia Gabriel Preschool.

Counting down to the start of the first day of school as on next Monday, 8th January.

🎄Our warmest wishes for the happiest Christmas and a merry new year! 🥳 The Julia Gabriel family has been hard at work preparing for next year's new academic year and with the centre currently undergoing our next phase of renovation works as we transition to Julia Gabriel Preschool, it's been a vastly rewarding year.

As we reflect upon the highs and the lows of the year that has made 2023 such a ⭐️ meaningful year for us all, we cannot help but look back fondly at all the differences we have made, the little lives we have impacted positively, for all the journeys we have had the privilege of being welcomed onto, and most of all, our own personal growth. 💛 From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for coming on this ride of a lifetime with us. We are truly blessed to continue doing what we love best, as we carry our fiery passion for early childhood into this new year with us! On the last week of school (yes, right before school ended!), our Chiltern House Nursery Two children enjoyed their final of the year with a mouth-watering and hands-on trip to Sushi King! 🍣🍱

Donning their highly fashionable hair nets, the children and our accompanying parent volunteers were shown the ropes of making their own sushi using the ingredients provided. In that hour, we were all channeling our inner Jiro Ono to whip out, very proudly might we add, sushi we could stake claim as our own ✨. We had a hand at mixing the special sushi rice, pressed the rice into shape, and even tried securing the tamago onto the rice with the strip of nori. Not bad coming off a crash course in making sushi!

And... that is a wrap! 🤩

🎄Last Friday was the final day of preschool. And with it, it brought along one of the children's favourite celebrations - !

With the centre adorned with beautiful twinkling fairy lights, intricately decorated Christmas trees in each classroom, and festive jingles filling the air, the merry atmosphere was bright and cheery. 🎅🏼 It has been a most amazing year, and we know the 2023 that we've enjoyed so far would not have been possible without the heartwarming support we have been so privileged to receive all year long from the Julia Gabriel families. For now, let us soak in the festivity cheers! 🥳

The surprises just keep coming our way from , our children's garden! ✨Just the other day, a family of worms came crawling out of the soil to say hello to the children! 🪱

In our quest to refresh the plants and vegetables at the garden beds, we sought our Nursery Two children's help to remove our 🌱 mint plant (that's beginning to grow a bit too wild), and our okra plant (that seems to have been compromised by some garden pests resulting in spotted leaves and deformed okra). The harvested mints ended up as mint chutney for sharing, thanks to Shani 👏🏻, our N2 Support Teacher's excellent hand at cooking, while the okras and eggplants were given away. And it was in the midst of all the tugging, and digging to loosen the soil that we chanced upon our wriggly worms. Then came the shrieks. 😆

The children were mostly intrigued, and wanted to hold the worm in their hands to take a closer look. 💛 We love just how natural unplanned exploration into the world of bugs came around during our gardening, and how learning is constantly taking place through discovery, and the language we use; how the outdoors is actually one huge borderless classroom.

More Sprouting Seeds adventures will continue in 2024. So hang on to your spades!

It may be a case of Qué será, será, but when we asked them what they'd like to be when they grow up, we were very pleasantly surprised. 🥰

Aside from the doctors, scientist, taxi driver, artist, football player, and ice skater, many wanted to venture into the teaching force! 🙌🏻 That certainly made our day! 🤗 The future may not be ours to see, but don't be afraid to seek what makes one happy and fulfilled, and pursue it. Keep our feet on the ground, but let our heart soar as high as it will! We hope their time here at Chiltern House has nurtured them to become resilient citizens, ready to make a difference! 💪🏻

What a privilege it has been! 🙌🏻 Last Friday, we celebrated the beautiful journey of our Kindergarten 2 children with us at Chiltern House. Together, we have all shared a most cherished learning experience with our team of educators and staff members. Seeing how far they have all come, we are certainly proud mamas. 🥲

It was undeniably a tough evening as we held back tears, yet we felt pride and joy after having watched them grow before our eyes, spread their wings and soar higher than they have ever been. 🤗 These wonderful children are spending their final week of school here with us before embarking onto their next new exciting chapter in primary school, and they will be missed. To all the parents, words cannot express our gratitude for being such supportive partners in education with the Julia Gabriel team here in Kuala Lumpur.

When our Chiltern House school song fills the air for what will be the last time for us on this Friday in our Christmas celebration, we shall be looking forward to every thrilling adventure that lies in waiting for us next year as we transition to Julia Gabriel Preschool. 🥳 In the meantime, happy graduation to our beloved Kindergarten 2 children and we hope that you will continue to love learning, be kind to the people around you, and make good of your life ahead! 💛
