My special needs child is 15 years old. What is the pathway for them?

This is one of the most common questions we receive at Enso Vocational Academy, a special needs vocational school in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

The answer depends on your child’s current level of independence, communication, emotional regulation, and work readiness.

Through our Pre-Employment Training Programme, students first undergo a comprehensive assessment to understand their strengths, interests, and support needs. From there, they begin building foundational skills such as responsibility, sequencing, task completion, workplace communication, and daily living skills.

As they progress, students are exposed to vocational areas such as barista training, customer service, clerical and IT tasks, packaging, gardening, and food preparation.

For students who are ready, the pathway continues through EmployAble’s job matching, placement, onboarding, and workplace coaching process.

The goal is not simply to keep students occupied. The goal is to prepare them for meaningful employment, greater independence, and long-term success.

In this video, Priyanshu is independently making orange juice for his teachers as part of his pre-employment training program.

He starts by finding the recipe, typing it out, gathering ingredients, following instructions, preparing the drink, and serving it to his teachers.
