Berita baik untuk usaha pemuliharaan penyu kita✨
Mulai Jun 2022, Kerajaan Negeri Terengganu akan meminda Enakmen Penyu Terengganu 1951(pindaan 2021) bagi mengharamkan penjualan semua jenis telur penyu di seluruh negeri.
Tindakan ini akan menjadi satu batu loncatan yang bagus untuk program pemuliharaan penyu kita🐢❤️

SEA TURTLE FACT!

Sea turtles are usually solitary by nature, from the moment they enter the ocean after emerging from their nests as hatchlings. This also means that while they do need a mate to reproduce, females usually nest alone - there can be many turtles nesting on a beach at a time but they are not synchronous.

However, there are some populations of certain species, such as the Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) and Kemp's Ridley (Lepidochelys kempii) that nest in synchrony - individuals gather and come up to the beach to nest at the same time. This phenomenon is called the "arribada," which is Spanish for "the arrival." Arribadas can consist of hundreds of individual nesters on a stretch of beach, however it is not as common as solitary nesting behaviour.
