With one material, children learn or experience:

• Language - name of the colours
• Group work of mixed age children - learn to take turns
• Group work of mixed age children and bilingual - absorb each other language, clear pronunciation by older children
• Leadership skills - Invite friends to join the group
• Emotion regulation - Handle rejection by learning to accept no as an answer
• Responsibility - From choosing the work, complete them and putting back everything back on the shelf

It is possible because of the supporting environment, prepared adult, the routine and consistency in the environment.

How children in the classroom test their knowledge?

Through games !

Not all but most materials in Montessori classroom always have games after children have been working with the materials for quite sometime.

Through games:

• They test their knowledge or share their knowledge with friends who forget or not yet know the names.
• Opportunity to organize themselves as a mixed age group - in here is a mixed group of 4 and 5 years old.
• Learn to take turns between each group members.

Did you know that with the right environment children are capable of organising or planning their own work and group?

In Montessori words, it’s forming a “society by cohesion” - means living peacefully and collaboratively.

Differences in the characteristics of children, even over an age range as small as three years, can open opportunities for all children in a classroom to learn from each other.

And out of empathy, older child will readily help a younger classmate master a difficult task. Being close in age to the younger child, the older one has an emotional understanding of that child experience, resulting in harmonious and sympathetic relationship between them.

• to have perseverance
• it is okey to take longer time than other person - you do you, follow your own pace
