Fakulti Teknologi Kreatif & Warisan (Rasmi)

Fakulti Teknologi Kreatif & Warisan (Rasmi) Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage (FTKW), is one of the earliest faculty instituted since the founding of University Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).

The establishment of the faculty is based on the Ninth Malaysia Plan (RMK-9), which gives priority to the conservation and preservation of our precious arts and heritage. At the same time, it is aimed at realising the government’s goal in turning Malaysia to become an international art centre. Artistic developments in Malaysia are pertinently related to the commercialisation of arts. Based on the noble idea to commercialise our heritage to the global community and the need to keep up with current technology, FTKW was established to preserve our heritage products through the process of shaping human capital to become creative entrepreneurs. Since 2006/2007 academic session, FTKW has offered programmes related to Creative Technology and Heritage along with the implementation of design and entrepreneurship values. These programmes are aimed at producing graduates equipped with knowledge of design and entrepreneurial skills. In general, there are currently two programmes being offered; which Bachelor of Heritage Studies with Honours and Bachelor of Creative Technology with Honours. Bachelor of Heritage Studies with Honours is a generic program while Bachelor in Creative Technology with Honours has four specialisations; Multimedia, Textile and Fashion Design, Product Design, and Visual Communication. Any specialisation areas is later taken up in the third semester of study. In both of faculty's programmes, the curriculum has been planned in such a way to expose students to the fundamental of arts, studio practice, drawings and ICT in the first three semesters. The remaining semesters are devoted to specialsation areas which are further enhanced by entrepreneurship and soft skill courses. This is to ensure that graduates could become main contributors to the creative industry of Malaysia. The study and learning approach by UMK is based on a Problem Based Learning (PBL) where students are exposed to issues and problems...

The teaching approach and course contents that focus on the use of ICT, practical trainings, international language proficiency and culturing entrepreneurship values would give advantages to UMK graduates when they venture into the industry.
