ALOR SETAR, 29 April 2026 – The Thunderbirds Frisbee Club of Albukhary International University (AIU) delivered an impressive performance at the Northern Varsity Ultimate Crown 4.0 (NVUC 4.0). The tournament was held on 11 April 2026 at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Engineering Campus in Penang.

Competing against university teams from across the region, the Thunderbirds showcased strong teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their efforts earned them the distinction of First Runner-Up (Top 2) in Pool A, marking a significant achievement for the club on a competitive platform.

Adding to the team’s success, Bangoura was honoured with the Male MVP Overall award, recognising his outstanding individual performance and contribution during the tournament.

The accomplishment reflects the collective dedication and hard work of the entire team, comprising Auwal, Uthmann, Mashal, Sharaf, Nawran, Ali, Haider, Bangoura, Wariz, Yusuf, Hussein, Maliotos, July, Ruby, Atul, Aisha, Aina, Ruddy, Syaza, Kausar, and Moemoe.

The university extends its congratulations to the Thunderbirds Frisbee Club for their commendable achievement and for representing AIU with pride and distinction.

ALOR SETAR, 28 April 2026 – The Seminar Kesedaran dan Pemerkasaan Autisme Peringkat Negeri Kedah (Siri 1) was successfully co-organised by the Centre of Community and Industry Engagement (CCIE) in collaboration with the Kerajaan Negeri Kedah and Majlis Kebajikan Negeri Kedah, alongside various strategic partners. The programme was held on 18 April 2026 at the Convocation Hall, Albukhary International University in conjunction with Autism Awareness Month.

The event was officiated by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Hemdi, marking a significant milestone in strengthening institutional commitment towards community engagement and inclusivity initiatives.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness and empower caregivers, educators, and the wider community with knowledge and practical insights on autism spectrum disorder. The event attracted more than 400 participants, including caregivers, teachers, and parents of children with autism. Students from Albukhary International University also benefited from the sessions, gaining valuable exposure and understanding of the subject matter.

The programme featured a series of insightful talks by experts in the field, including Associate Professor Dr. Norizan, a lecturer from Albukhary International University, who shared impactful knowledge and perspectives on supporting children with autism. The sessions covered key topics such as understanding autism, breaking myths, inclusive education, and intervention strategies at home.

Beyond knowledge sharing, the seminar also included a survey conducted among participants. The findings from this survey are expected to provide valuable insights and serve as a useful reference for future initiatives and support systems for the autism community.
Additionally, the seminar served as a platform to strengthen collaboration and build meaningful connections among stakeholders.

These engagements are expected to contribute towards future social business initiatives aimed at empowering the autism community, in line with the institution’s commitment to the 3 Zero mission (zero poverty and zero unemployment).

The organisers also expressed their appreciation to YB Dato’ Hajah Halimaton Shaadiah for her trust, continuous support, and guidance in ensuring the success of the programme. The initiative reflects a collective effort to promote inclusivity, enhance community awareness, and create a lasting positive impact on society.

28 APRIL 2026, ALOR SETAR - Seri Syawal MaSAA 2026, a festive programme organized by the Malaysian Students Association AIU (MaSAA) in collaboration with the Centre for Student Affairs and Alumni (CSAA), was successfully held at the Student Centre of Albukhary International University (AIU), bringing together a total of 103 students in celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The programme aimed to provide a meaningful platform for Malaysian students to gather and celebrate the festive season together, especially for those who were unable to return home. It served as an opportunity to foster unity, strengthen friendships, and create a warm and inclusive environment within the university community.

The event featured a variety of interactive and cultural activities, including quizzes on Hari Raya knowledge and other engaging sessions designed to promote cultural appreciation, creativity, and social interaction among participants. The lively atmosphere reflected the true spirit of Hari Raya, filled with joy, togetherness, and mutual respect.

In addition, the programme encouraged active participation and teamwork among students from diverse backgrounds, contributing to stronger interpersonal relationships and a greater sense of belonging. The celebration also provided an avenue for students to relieve stress and enjoy a memorable festive experience on campus.

Overall, Seri Syawal MaSAA 2026 successfully strengthened the bonds within the Malaysian student community at AIU while promoting cultural values and unity. The programme reflects AIU’s continuous efforts, alongside CSAA, in supporting student engagement and nurturing a harmonious campus environment.

ALOR SETAR, 27 April 2026— Albukhary International University (AIU), through its university library, successfully conducted a community engagement programme under the The NEED Project at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pida Tiga (SK Pida Tiga), Tunjang Jitra, Kedah.

The programme aimed to enhance the school resource centre's role as a dynamic learning hub while promoting literacy, information literacy, and student engagement.

The NEED Project, which is under the 3ZERO Club initiative focusing on Zero Net Carbon Emission, contributed bookshelves and donated reading materials collected from the university and the wider community. The contribution also included establishing a dedicated AIU Corner to improve access to reading resources.

SK Pida Tiga becomes the 18th school to benefit under The NEED Project, reflecting AIU’s continued commitment to expanding its outreach and impact to the community.

The programme featured a series of structured and interactive sessions tailored for students. Key activities included:
● Ice-breaking session to encourage participation
● Basic training module for school library prefects
● Hands-on session on book processing and subject classification
● Guidance on information searching skills in the resource centre
● Introduction to ICT applications in learning

The initiative also emphasized the importance of the school resource centre as a platform for knowledge development. Students were given exposure to the functions of a well-managed library, encouraging them to actively participate in resource centre activities.

This shows AIU’s commitment to supporting communities through education. It connects universities with schools and helps improve literacy and library management at the school level.

Overall, the programme was successfully carried out and well received by students and school staff. It's expected to improve school resource centres into effective technology-based learning spaces.

ALOR SETAR, 27 April 2026 – A spirit of pride, appreciation, and celebration filled the Senate Foyer as the university honoured its outstanding staff during the AIU Staff Excellence Awards 2025 Ceremony, held on 22 April 2026.

The event brought together more than 150 academic and administrative staff, alongside members of the university’s leadership team, in a meaningful celebration of individuals whose dedication and hard work continue to drive AIU’s growth and institutional excellence.

A total of 22 recipients were recognised across four major categories: Teaching Excellence, Research and Publication, Administrative Staff, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Special Award.

The awards were presented by AIU’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Jaafar, together with Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Dr. Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Hemdi, and Registrar, Madam Norpisah Mat Isa.

In his welcoming address, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh Jaafar congratulated the award recipients and expressed appreciation for their contributions to university’s progress. He also thanked all AIU staff for their continued dedication to the university’s mission of nurturing future leaders through education, values and service.

He further emphasised that excellence at AIU goes beyond individual achievements, reflecting the university’s collective aspiration to remain Relevant, Referred, and Respected through impactful teaching, research, and service delivery.

Recipients were selected based on their excellence in teaching and learning, impactful research and publications, as well as exemplary service in administrative roles.

Adding further significance to the event, the ceremony also featured the official presentation of AIU’s Social Business Playbook and Strategic Planning 2026–2030, marking an important milestone in charting the university’s future direction and underpinning its commitment to sustainable growth and social impact.
