Faculty Meetings Bring Your Knitting Poem
Bring your knitting, bring your tea,
For back-to-school meetings, as Waldorf as can be!
We’ll gather in the garden, where the flowers all bloom,
Taking tea breaks in the sunshine instead of a conference room.
We’ll stretch into eurythmy, with gestures and grace,
Moving our bodies through time and space.
Then CPR training, because naturally, of course
We’ll learn to save lives with our rhythmic force!
We’ll sing songs to Mother Earth,
With every heartfelt breath,
Because nothing says “faculty meeting”
Like practicing CPR and contemplating death.
We’ll eat kale salad for lunch
So wholesome, green, and bright
And discuss how to make it
Feel slightly more like a delight.
Then blue veiling painting for healing and peace,
A little artistic therapy before the meeting must cease.
We’ll sage all our classrooms, clearing the air,
Sending old cobwebs and stress everywhere.
So bring your knitting, your water, your tea,
Your eurythmy shoes and your creativity.
Bring your open heart and your Waldorf soul
We’ll make it through the school year whole!
And if the agenda starts feeling too long,
We’ll simply gather in a circle and sing a song.
For this is our calling, our joy, and our plight:
Bring your knitting
We’re getting ready
for school tonight!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐙𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐜

Rudolf Steiner had a sense of humor. Along with very serious verses for each zodiacal mood, he also offered a satirical verse that both shed light on the stumblings of a person on an initiatory path and informed us of our own foibles.

See Rudolf Steiner's The Song of Initiation, a Satire. https://rsarchive.org/Articles/GA040/English/MP1984/TwlMoo_song.html

In a quite serious version, Rudolf Steiner offers twelve verses of the zodiacal moods revealing the human experience as a reflection of the cosmos. The verse for Leo reads:

Invigorate with senses' might
Matured existence of all worlds,
Perceptive element of beings,
Toward the firm resolve 'to be'.
In the surging shine of life,
In the prevailing pains of growth,
With senses' might, arise!

Of these more serious verses, he says, "Thus an attempt has been made to offer a sequence of feeling, sensing, and speaking, which, as it is presented, gives, as it were, another version of the inner soul-feeling in relation to what has flowed into the movements of our solar system. The structure of twelve verses, each with seven lines, corresponds, you could say, to the outer skeleton. If you take this attempt at a twelve/seven-membered poem, however, you will see that what wishes to reveal itself is present in every detail."
