Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Day is an American holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Its origins date back to 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where English colonists known as Pilgrims (who arrived on the Mayflower) and the Wampanoag Native Americans shared a three-day feast to give thanks for an abundant harvest after a harsh winter. This tradition draws inspiration from European and Protestant harvest festivals, symbolizing gratitude for survival and intercultural collaboration.
It was established as a national holiday in 1863, when President Abraham Lincoln officially proclaimed it to unite the country during the Civil War, promoting reconciliation and thanksgiving for divine blessings and abundance. Earlier, in 1789, George Washington had declared it a day of thanksgiving, but it wasn't fixed on the calendar. The purpose was to foster unity, reflection, and collective gratitude, evolving from local rituals to a federal holiday.
Today, it is seen as a family celebration featuring traditional dinners (turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie), parades, American football, and massive travel, emphasizing values like gratitude and family bonds. However, it sparks controversy: for many Native Americans, it represents the beginning of colonialism and oppression, observed as a "National Day of Mourning" in places like Plymouth, fueling debates on its historical and cultural reinterpretation.

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday (November 1-2) that honors the deceased with joy and family, fusing pre-Hispanic traditions (such as Aztec offerings to guide souls) with 16th-century Spanish Catholicism, to facilitate evangelization and preserve the view of death as a natural cycle of life.
Origins and creation: It emerged from post-conquest cultural syncretism, shifting indigenous rites (Miccailhuitontli) to the Catholic calendar (All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day), for evangelizing purposes and cultural continuity.
Present day: Recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage (2008), it is celebrated globally with altars of marigolds, pan de mu**to, and sugar skulls; it includes parades and visits to cemeteries. Valued for its message of remembrance and resilience, though criticized for its commercialization (e.g., influence of Halloween). It is a festive bridge between life and death.

Halloween, celebrated on October 31, originates from the Celtic festival of Samhain (over 2,000 years ago in Ireland and northern Europe), which marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. It was created to honor the deceased, based on the belief that the barrier between the living and spirits thinned, allowing ancestral visits and warding off evil spirits with bonfires and disguises to ensure a prosperous season.
In the 8th century, Christianity adapted it as the eve of All Saints' Day (All Hallows' Eve), merging it with All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2) to facilitate conversions. It arrived in the United States in the 19th century with Irish immigrants, evolving in the 1920s with the introduction of "trick-or-treat" and commercialization.
Today, it is a global and highly commercial holiday (with millions in sales of costumes and decorations), focused on terrifying and creative fun, but controversial due to its pagan roots or excessive consumerism. In Hispanic countries, it blends with traditions like Mexico's Day of the Dead.

The heroes of Mexico's Independence are key figures who led or actively participated in the country's struggle for independence from Spanish rule, between 1810 and 1821.
These heroes, along with many others, represented different facets of the struggle: from military and political leadership to logistical support and popular resistance. Their legacy is commemorated in Mexico, especially during the celebrations on September 16th.
