I found this fun, easy activity online that can help kiddos work on perseverance. Kiddos can have a difficult time persevering through things that are hard or challenging for them. This activity can help them have fun and likely not realize they are working on perseverance. Just thought I would share 🙂

This STEM Index Card Tower Challenge is one of the easiest to prepare and the most challenging to complete! It's a perfect challenge to get all kids involved in problem-solving and practicing perseverance.

This article has important information on brain breaks, I know I talk about them a lot, but they work! There is also discussion of greeting students and also chatting with them about things outside of school. Our kiddos need to feel like they matter at school and to do that we need to be interested in more than their academics 💛
It also contains a lot of useful links to more information.

Morning meetings are a good place to start, but what you really need is a toolkit of strategies to meet your students’ social and emotional needs all day long.

Brain Breaks are so important for students! There are all sorts of ideas online for brain breaks. I always do one before group times/independent work after direct instruction and it helps students get the wiggles and talking out.
A good break is to have students meet up with a friend, talk for a minute and then do a minute of an exercise - jumping jacks, running in place, knee highs, etc. Two minutes a couple of times a day can make a BIG difference!

Our 4th grade team did this during the school year and it started our day off more positively. It also helped us notice if a kiddo came to school with something bothering them, which sometimes can go unnoticed for a while during hectic mornings. Did I miss those extra few minutes getting ready for the day? Yep. So, I got to work a few minutes earlier. It turned into one of my favorite times of the day 💕

The research is in: Greeting students at the door sets a positive tone and can increase engagement and reduce disruptive behavior.
