📖 Chapter 4: In Search of Clues 🔍

Nathaniel and Elena exited the Magical Metro station, crossing the magical threshold that returned them to the Muggle world. This threshold led directly into a broom and cleaning supply closet between the restroom doors. They found themselves in the midst of the crowded station and made their way toward the exit. As they headed toward the crime scene, the atmosphere in the city seemed to vibrate with a magical hue, barely perceptible to untrained eyes.

They walked through the streets, surrounded by modern buildings and vibrant colors, but they also noticed the small magical details intertwined with everyday life. Market stalls selling magical herbs and ingredients, murals coming to life with the movement of their characters, and small lights flickering in narrow alleyways, indicating the presence of magical establishments.
Finally, they arrived at the crime scene, a secluded corner of Chapultepec Forest. The director of the Department, Octavio Valenzuela, awaited them there. Director Octavio Valenzuela was a wizard of serene and determined personality. He possessed a balanced blend of wisdom and authority, making him a respected leader in the Department of Magical Crime Investigation and Resolution. His calm demeanor and ability to make fair decisions earned him admiration from both colleagues and subordinates.
Valenzuela was known for his pragmatic approach and his ability to stay composed even in difficult situations. He was a man of solid principles and would never sacrifice integrity for quick solutions. He valued cooperation and was willing to listen to his team's opinions before making important decisions.
Despite his tranquil appearance, Valenzuela also had a passionate side when it came to fighting crime and protecting the magical community. He was ready to face challenges and take bold actions when necessary to ensure safety and justice.

Overall, Director Octavio Valenzuela was a respected leader and an advocate for justice and security in Mexico's magical community.

"Grimsbane, Ruíz, I see you received my owl, and it seems you already know each other. It's good to see you here," said the Director with a serious expression on his face, but not forgetting the friendly demeanor he always had with his officers. "I hope your journey was uneventful."
"Thank you, Director Valenzuela," Nathaniel replied. "We're ready to work on the case."
"His name was Guillermo Vargas. He was a talented and respected alchemist in the magical community. He had dedicated his life to the study and practice of alchemy, seeking to uncover the secrets of transformation and the creation of potions and magical artifacts," the Director said with solemnity. "He was also a personal friend," he finished, not saying more for the next 10 seconds, as if mourning his own grief. Nathaniel also fell silent, as seeing the alchemist's body, now with a name and a surname, seemed strangely familiar to him.

After the silence, the Director provided them with a summary of the clues they had found so far. There were signs of dark magic at the scene, and although the exact nature of the spell used couldn't yet be determined, the presence of dark energies was undeniable.

"The most intriguing thing is this object we found near Guillermo's body," the Director said, using his friend's first name, showing them a small golden amulet. "It doesn't seem to belong to him, which suggests the killer might have dropped it accidentally. I think it could be an important clue."

Nathaniel and Elena observed the amulet carefully. It was an intriguing and mysterious piece. Made of shining golden metal, it was adorned with intricate engravings depicting magical symbols and mythical figures. Although the amulet appeared small and elegant, it emitted a faint dark and unsettling aura that extended around it. When Elena held it in her hand, she felt a slight vibration, as if it were connected to some form of magic.
The symbols carved into the amulet were unusual and seemed to belong to an ancient magical tradition. There were coiled snakes, crescent moons, and an eye in the center that seemed to watch over everything. As Nathaniel and Elena observed the details, they noticed the symbols seemed to come to life, trembling slightly as if activated by an invisible energy. Elena dropped it on the ground. Nathaniel picked it up hastily.

"We should take it back to the department for further analysis," Elena said.
The Director nodded. "Good idea, Ruíz. In the meantime, keep exploring the scene. We mustn't overlook any details."

Nathaniel and Elena delved deeper into the area, observing every corner with keen eyes. Finally, they stopped by the body of the fallen alchemist on the ground. His glassy eyes seemed to seek answers from the beyond.

"Look at his wand," Nathaniel murmured, pointing towards the object a few feet away.

Elena nodded, crouching down to examine the wand without touching it. Guillermo Vargas's wand was made of walnut wood, with a unicorn horn core. Its handle was simple but elegant, with carved details representing alchemical symbols. The wand was known for its ability to channel magic with precision and balance, making it a powerful tool for potion-making and magical artifact creation. It was lying in the grass, near the alchemist's motionless hand. It seemed he had tried to defend himself before his tragic end.

"This killer wasn't willing to leave loose ends," Elena said gravely. "We must find out who they are and stop them before they cause more harm."

The wind whispered through the trees as they observed the scene, feeling the presence of magic and darkness enveloping it. Nathaniel and Elena knew they had entered a dangerous game, one where every clue and detail could make the difference between success and failure.

In Chapter 2, we accompanied Nathaniel Grimsbane as he embarked on a magical journey through the vibrant and enchanting Magical Metro of Mexico City. Unbeknownst to him, his path was leading him closer to the heart of the mystery surrounding the dead alchemist and the ominous shadows that lurked within the Chapultepec Forest.

👦Chapter 3: Unexpected Encounter, 👩‍

Nathaniel stepped off the metro and emerged at the station with his mind filled with unanswered questions. As he walked along the platform, he wondered who could have motives to murder an alchemist in Mexico. The reasons and suspects were a mystery that intrigued and worried him in equal measure.
Lost in his thoughts, Nathaniel was jolted from his reverie by a familiar voice. A figure in a Mexican officer robe was approaching, and he soon recognized his friend Elena Ruiz, whom he had met at an event hosted by the Mexican Ministry of Magic. Elena was a young officer, just a few years younger than Nathaniel, a graduate of the Mexican School of Magic and Witchcraft, with an energetic and determined personality. Full of enthusiasm and eager to prove herself, she strived to face any challenges that came her way. Although her experience in the department was limited, her determination, curiosity, intelligence, creativity, and desire to learn all that was necessary to make a place for herself made her a promising figure in the world of magical justice. They had become friends during the celebration of the 325th anniversary of the Ministry's creation, even though Mexican magical tradition had existed for many more centuries.

"Nath!" Elena exclaimed with a smile. "I didn't expect to find you here."

Her friend's cheerful tone caught him off guard, as he was deeply absorbed in his concern for the alchemist case. Nathaniel returned the smile, though his expression revealed a certain seriousness.

"Elena, it's a pleasure to see you," he responded, trying to sound casual as his mind remained focused on the alchemist case.
"You look well," Elena commented, inspecting him with an appreciative gaze. "It's been a while since we last crossed paths, hasn't it?"
Nathaniel nodded. "Yes, about three months, if I'm not mistaken."
"That's right," Elena confirmed. "Time does seem to fly."

Nathaniel nodded again, recalling their last Ministry event where they had shared a friendly conversation. They had met at an exhibit of peculiar magical objects and quickly realized they shared a similar sense of humor and an interest in the unique wonders of magic. Amid glass cases filled with extravagant items, their eyes landed on a small enchanted music box. Instead of a melody, the box began producing the sound of a chorus of goblins attempting to sing in high-pitched and off-key tones. Nathaniel and Elena couldn't contain their laughter and, between fits of giggles, began to imagine the story behind that peculiar creation.
After enjoying the exhibit of peculiar magical objects, Nathaniel and Elena decided to explore more of the event together. They ventured down aisles filled with various stands and activities related to magic. They stumbled upon an area where wizards and witches showcased their unique magical abilities in small demonstrations.
At one stand, a wizard was performing transfiguration tricks with everyday objects, turning a cup into a mouse and then back into a cup. Nathaniel and Elena were encouraged to participate and took turns attempting the transformations themselves. While their attempts weren't always perfect, they shared laughter and encouraged each other as they explored their magical prowess.
After the demonstrations, they discovered a magical candy stall offering an array of treats that changed flavor and color with each bite. Nathaniel and Elena tried some of the more extravagant candies and had fun sharing their reactions to the shifting flavors.
Finally, the event concluded with a display of magical fireworks that illuminated the night sky with bright colors and intricate patterns. As they watched the spectacle, Nathaniel and Elena shared their impressions of the day and talked about their experiences in the magical world.
Since then, Nathaniel and Elena had been exchanging owls to keep in touch and share details about their investigations, as well as to exchange ideas and theories about the cases they were working on. They also used these communications to share fun moments and anecdotes related to the magical world.
But Nathaniel couldn't shake his thoughts from the gravity of the current situation, which quickly returned to his mind.

"What brings you here?" Nathaniel asked, trying to sound casual while his thoughts remained fixated on the alchemist case.
Elena looked at him with a glint of complicity and then suggested in a hushed voice, "Maybe we should step aside a bit to talk more privately."

Following Elena's suggestion, Nathaniel nodded and followed her as they made their way to a quieter corner of the station. Once there, Elena took a deep breath before speaking.

"Nath, I've been assigned to investigate a murder case in this area," Elena revealed, her gaze serious as she spoke. Elena's confession took Nathaniel by surprise, but it also piqued his interest. "Yes, and not only that. There seems to be evidence of dark magic involved in this case."
The mention of dark magic resonated in Nathaniel's mind, aligning with his own conclusions and suspicions. "Interestingly enough, I'm here for a similar case. They found a dead alchemist in Chapultepec Forest."
Elena looked at him in surprise. "Oh, I can't believe it! It seems we're both investigating the same thing."
Nathaniel nodded, feeling relieved to have someone he could confide in during this increasingly unsettling investigation. "A few students from the Mexican School of Magic and Witchcraft mentioned something on the metro. They said people suspect there's dark magic behind this."
Elena frowned, concerned. "That matches what I've been uncovering. I've also researched a similar case in England, back in the seventies. An alchemist was murdered under mysterious circumstances, and the case was never solved."

Elena's words added a new layer of complexity to the mystery. He recalled that in Defense Against the Dark Arts class, the silver-bearded professor had mentioned something about it, but he couldn't recall clearly, and he understood why Mr. Castellanos had requested him for the case. The two shared a meaningful look, aware of the gravity of the situation.

"It seems we're in the midst of something much larger than we had imagined," Nathaniel said seriously.
Elena nodded, her expression reflecting the determination within her. "You're right. But at least we're not alone in this. We can work together and make sure we unravel all the secrets."

The newly formed alliance between Nathaniel and Elena brought a sense of relief amid the uncertainty. Together, they were willing to face the darkness and challenges that lay ahead as they sought answers in the enigmatic world of dark magic.

📖 Chapter 2: Magical Journey. 🚂

After a year of monotony in the Mexican Ministry of Magic's office, Nathaniel Grimsbane yearned for the thrill of the unknown. His days had been filled with paperwork and numbers, taking him away from the adventurous magic he had enjoyed during his time at Hogwarts. But on that day, the longing for adventure was stronger than ever.
Leaving the office onto a regular Muggle street, Nathaniel went unnoticed in his dark robe. He walked with confidence, hiding his magical abilities from the curious eyes around him. Finally, he reached the subway station and entered its bustling underground world. Pulling out his magical map from his robe pocket, he paused by the side to review the marks and routes that would lead him to the long-awaited Chapultepec Forest.
As he examined the map, his eyes found the location of the entrance to the Magical Metro of Mexico City. Each station had a different entrance to the magical world. In some, wizards had to tickle the escalators, in others, they had to talk to the statues near the stations. In this station, the entrance was behind the ticket booths muggles used to pay for their ride.
Following the carefully traced instructions on the map, Nathaniel advanced toward the Muggle ticket booth at a crowded station. Pretending to be an ordinary passerby, he patiently waited until the place was empty enough. Then, with a quick and discreet wave of his wand, he activated the charm that revealed the magical entrance behind the ticket booth.
The passage to the magical metro opened before him, inviting him into a world where magic and reality intertwined. With determined steps, he entered the secret entrance and crossed the threshold into the unexpected magical chaos and wonder that only the Magical Metro of Mexico City could offer.
Once inside the magical metro, Nathaniel Grimsbane felt as if he had stepped into an entirely different world. Magical creatures and wizards in multicolored robes shared seats, while street vendors offered a variety of magical products that defied imagination.
He reached the ticket booth, where a ticket vendor with a hat that glittered like a constellation welcomed him with a kind smile.

"Welcome, young wizard! Where are you headed today?" the vendor greeted enthusiastically.
"To Chapultepec Forest," Nathaniel replied, returning the smile.

The vendor nodded and began calculating the price of the ticket in magical pesos. One small detail caught Nathaniel's attention. The exchange rate between galleons and magical pesos was different than he had expected. Despite having lived in Mexico for a year, he still didn't fully grasp the currency equivalence.

"Is that the price in galleons?" Nathaniel asked, a bit confused.
The vendor chuckled softly. "Oh, the galleons here are like the galleons in the UK, but the exchange rate is a bit different in our lands. Muggles have their own peso, and we have the magical peso."
Nathaniel smiled, nodding as he pulled out his wallet and counted the necessary magical pesos. "I suppose magic even influences exchange rates."
"Exactly," the vendor replied as she handed him the ticket. "Have a nice journey and enjoy the magic in every corner of the city!"

With his ticket in hand, Nathaniel looked around in the magical metro. Magical creatures of all kinds mingled among the passengers. A wizard with a vibrant tie chatted with a mischievous gnome who was selling brightly colored candies. A serious-looking centaur occupied a seat, engrossed in an ancient book.
Nathaniel handed the ticket to the attendant at the carriage door and found a seat near the window. He settled in to enjoy the ride, and as he gazed out the window, he overheard a hushed conversation between two students sitting across from him. Both were dressed in the distinctive robes of the Mexican School of Magic and Witchcraft, which bore the emblem of Quetzalcoatl, an important deity in Mesoamerican mythology, close to the heart. They seemed engrossed in their discussion.

"I heard an alchemist was found dead in Chapultepec Forest!" one of the students exclaimed with intrigue.
"Yes, it's true!" the other student replied. "They say dark magic might be involved. It's really chilling!"

Nathaniel tilted his head slightly to better hear their conversation. The mention of the dead alchemist and the possibility of dark magic intrigued him. His own suspicions began to form as he listened to the students.

"Imagine if someone's practicing dark magic on our own turf!" the first student whispered.
"We should be careful," the second student replied. "Though, honestly, I don't think the school is in danger. Authorities must be taking action."

The train stopped at a station, and the students stood up to disembark, followed by the roving gnome vendor. Nathaniel watched them go and reflected on what he had heard. It seemed there was unease among the students about dark magic and the incident in Chapultepec Forest. The advice of his favorite professor from Defense Against the Dark Arts class, the wise wizard with a silver beard, echoed in his mind: "Magic can be unpredictable and often reflects the darkness in our hearts. Keep your senses alert, Nathaniel."

The students' conversation confirmed Nathaniel's suspicions. It appeared that dark magic was at play, and the case of the dead alchemist was more intriguing and serious than he had imagined. As the metro continued its journey toward the forest, Nathaniel mentally prepared himself for what he might uncover at the scene. Nathaniel was determined to unravel the dark secrets hidden in the shadows.

🔮Chapter 1: An Awakened Spell 🔮

In the bright office of the Mexican Ministry of Magic, Nathaniel Grimsbane was absorbed in his routine work. The simplicity of office life seemed to have replaced the fiery emotions and magical adventures he had experienced during his years at Hogwarts. A few years after graduating from the prestigious school, he had taken a job in the Department of Magical Crime Investigation and Resolution and had moved to the country in search of a new life.

Mexico, with its vibrant culture and ancient magic, spread out before him. However, after a year of scrollwork and forms for magical creature regulation, the novelty had begun to fade. The new country seemed calm, too calm, compared to the challenges and dangers he had faced in England. The city's murmur drifted through the window as Grimsbane scribbled notes on parchment. A sigh escaped his lips as he gazed at his wand. Nathaniel Grimsbane's wand was made of white oak wood, a choice that reflected his determination and brave nature. White oak wood was known for its connection to inner strength and protection, qualities that resonated with Nathaniel's personality.

At its core, the wand held a phoenix feather, an uncommon but powerful choice. Phoenix feathers were valued for their ability to channel and amplify magic, giving Nathaniel's wand an exceptional level of power. Additionally, the phoenix feather symbolized bravery and the pursuit of truth, qualities that were fundamental in the Minister of Magic Aurelio Castellanos offering him a position as an officer in the Department of Magical Crime Investigation and Resolution at the Mexican Ministry of Magic. This department was responsible for investigating and solving cases related to criminal activities and violations of magical laws in the country.

The wand was thirty centimeters long, a measurement considered average but perfectly fitting Nathaniel's hand. Its handle was carved with a subtle pattern of leaves and branches, giving a natural and elegant touch to the design. Overall, Nathaniel's wand was a unique combination of strength, bravery, and mystery, a powerful tool he rarely used for anything beyond signing documents. The fire in his eyes as a young wizard had given way to a tired and bored look.

However, fate always holds surprises in the most unexpected moments. That morning, Nathaniel Grimsbane sat at his desk, surrounded by piles of reports and documents on magical crimes. His quill moved diligently as he drafted a report on a peculiar incident that had recently occurred in the city. A smile curved on his lips as he recalled the details of what seemed to be a "nose theft" case.

In a corner of the magical alley, a group of witches and wizards had reported that their noses had mysteriously disappeared overnight. Without a trace, leaving only a candy scent in the air. The victims claimed to have woken up with a sharp sense of smell, even detecting the faintest scents of their surroundings. Although the case seemed more like a joke than a real crime, Nathaniel was determined to solve it with the same seriousness as any other case. As he wrote down the details, he couldn't help but let out a muffled laugh due to the absurd situation. He had seen many magical crimes in his career, but a nose theft definitely took the prize for being the most unusual.

Just as he was about to finish his report, his quill came to a sudden stop when he heard a loud screech. It was an owl from the department's director-general, Octavio Valenzuela, an experienced and respected wizard in the world of magical justice who had been leading the department with authority and wisdom for more than 30 years. The owl gently entered his office through the wide-open window, carrying a sealed parchment with the official seal of the Ministry. With hands trembling from sudden excitement, he took his wand and performed a simple spell to read the message that the owl held in its beak. It was an urgent communication from the Minister of Magic, and Nathaniel put his report aside as he read the words that appeared before him.

"Urgent: Incident in Chapultepec Forest. Unusual magical activity reported. Requires expert presence. Your service is needed. Sincerely, Aurelio Castellanos, Mexican Minister of Magic."

The apparent nonsense of the "nose theft" case was left behind as Nathaniel prepared for a new and serious investigation. Dark magic and deep mysteries would require his attention once again, even if it meant putting aside comedic incidents for a while. The spark of adventure that had been dormant within him ignited in an instant. Chapultepec Forest, a place that had been peaceful and serene until now, was now at the center of something unusual. Grimsbane felt a mixture of emotions: intrigue, anticipation, and a glimmer of excitement he hadn't felt in a long time.
With his officer robe in hand and his heart racing, Grimsbane knew that his life was about to take an unexpected turn. He set off for Chapultepec Forest, where ancient magic and hidden secrets intertwined in an intriguing dance.
