I was talking with a friend today about a book that discusses being able to spot the anomaly. And as birth educator we focus a lot on understanding the body and being able to listen to that quiet “no”. When it comes to coaching, knowing what good movement patterns look like so you can spot the shift and correct it . Or like mentioned in the clip, you live in a house for 20 years, when the chair in your hallway has moved 3”, you notice. The correlation to all of these is having a baseline and knowing it inside and out so that when something even minor changes you spot it, you feel it, you see it. Birth is not any different. There is a baseline to how birth unfolds naturally and physiologically. When that is understood it is easy to spot when something is off and action can take place. When your “expert” is not being trained on natural birth, there is no chance they will know when to truly intervene. Modern birth is treated like a medical emergency by default. Hospitals, protocols, constant monitoring, routine interventions — even when there are no complications. This system turns healthy women into “patients,” normal birth into a procedure, and intervention into the first response instead of the last. That doesn’t mean doctors aren’t needed — they absolutely are when there’s a real medical issue. But the current model sidelines midwives, minimizes informed consent, and normalizes interventions that carry real risks. We didn’t always birth this way. And we don’t have to keep doing it this way. Friends, you do realize that midwives have been hunted, squashed out, pushed out, sent to jail, etc by doctors and OB's for 100's of years right? OB's are not gods. Many refuse to collaborate with midwives and hospitals are shutting down midwife practices in 2025 even tho we have many many studies showing that midwives mortality rates for moms and babies is MUCH BETTER then OB's. Are ALL OBs bad? Of course not! Do they need to accept that midwives are here to stay, YES! We've been around a lot longer then they have! I mean, for the love of kittens, they STOLE midwifery from midwives and gave themselves a new name!! So when you come at me asking why I have a lack of respect for OB's, that is part of the reason. Not to mention the 35% surgical birth rate we have in this country. I. Blame. OB's THEY ARE SURGEONS. WHY WOULD THEY NOT WANT TO PRACTICE THEIR CRAFT??

Por mas Obsteras que se inspiren en este gran hombre, que vino a cambiar al mundo por la manera en que parimos , por la manera en que nacemos por su mamíferizacion del parto . Que sigamos despertando , informándonos y pariendo en casa y en agua, que los partos saludables regresen a sus familias .
