📚 English Grammar Tip: Using “A” and “An”
We use a and an before singular nouns.
✨ Use A before words that begin with a CONSONANT sound.
Examples:
• a book
• a teacher
• a student
• a university
✨ Use AN before words that begin with a VOWEL sound.
Examples:
• an apple
• an egg
• an English class
• an hour
💡 Important:
It depends on the SOUND, not only the letter.
✅ an hour → “hour” begins with a vowel sound
✅ a university → “university” begins with a “yoo” sound
🗣 Practice:
• I am a teacher.
• She has an umbrella.
• He is taking an English class.

✔️ I suggest that he go to the doctor
👀 Why?
This is called the subjunctive mood—used for suggestions, recommendations, and demands.
👉 More examples:
✔️ It’s important that she be on time
✔️ They recommended that he take the job
💡 Notice:
No “-s”, no “is”… just the base verb
