My partner Shane and I had such a great time at Alma’s place learning to make taco tortillas from scratch which we made into chicken and potatoTaquitos, Rajas con Crema, Coriander (cilantro) rice, Guacamole, Salsa Rojo and my absolute favourite- Salsa Verde!
Beforehand Alma gave us a history of her family and where her passion for cooking originates as well as a culinary history of Playa del Carmen.
Maria (also helping us in the cochina), did all the prep work for us, and washed up (what a whiz!) so we could do all the fun stuff- guided by Alma- making tortilla dough, rolling the balls, using the taco flattener, watching the tacos puff up on the heats. Then filling and rolling and deep frying. Joy!
My goodness what a feast (accompanied by a delicious Tequila Cocktail). Amazing food- amazing company. Alma is such a great teacher and great fun. (We even got to take a doggie bag).
I can’t recommend this experience enough!
Now to find Tomatillos in Australia!
