We had a blast at the Tucson Agave Heritage Festival this year teaching an Introductory Course, where we were privileged to host enthusiasts and several industry leaders, including Queen of Tucson's Food Court, esteemed Jennifer English, James Beard Awardee author and spirits judge of Proof Awards - here's her impression, starting on page 76.

The Bar & Restaurant Expo 2023 in Las Vegas was a hit! The past couple of days, Agave Spirits Institute's Daniel Rodriguez & Oscar Montes Iga got the incredible experience to showcase our passion for agave spirits and share their knowledge with the attendees.

We are especially proud to have welcomed over 100 new students to our community who took our Introductory Course during the event. Our team was thrilled to connect with so many industry professionals and enthusiasts who share our passion for agave spirits.

At the Agave Spirits Institute, we are committed to educating and inspiring our students through hands-on training and expert guidance. We believe that learning about agave spirits is not only a valuable skill for professionals in the industry, but also an enjoyable and rewarding experience for anyone who appreciates fine spirits.

We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the organizers of the Bar & Restaurant Expo for this incredible opportunity, and to all of the attendees who made the event such a success. We look forward to continuing to share our passion for agave spirits with our students and the industry as a whole.

There are more than 20 - and possibily around 48 - different species of agave used to make agave spirits. Each one has its own characteristics in terms of colour, shape, size and maturity. Distilled agave spirits have distinctive aromas and flavours, some of which come from the raw material - the agave plant.

Have you heard of Tuxca? How about Comiteco? In our Introductory Course we open your window into the vast and diverse world of agave spirits. We’ll learn the basics of how to taste like a spirits sommelier, learning how to identify aromas, flavors, and overall quality. Over the course of 2.5 hours, we’ll explore six different agave spirits, each one with a unique history, production, and taste. You’ll leave this course with the tools to better appreciate agave spirits, and an urge to keep exploring these vast and diverse drinks.
