tpb.pirateparty.org.uk threatened with legal action

The UK’s music industry body is set to take the Pirate Party UK to court in a dispute over offering access to banned site The Pirate Bay. Minor political group Pirate Party UK set up a proxy service to the piracy site ahead of its blocking by the High Court in April. Leader Loz Kaye refused the British Phonographic Industry’s (BPI) request to shut down the proxy last week.

The BPI said court proceedings “are going to be necessary”. The industry body told the BBC its solicitors will writing to the party in due course. “Despite our efforts to resolve the matter amicably, it is clear that the Pirate Party are determined to continue providing access to the illegal Pirate Bay site,” a spokesman said.

“Our solicitors will now be formally writing to the members of the Pirate Party’s national executive committee.” In a statement, Mr Kaye said his party was ready to defend itself. “It is clear that we are facing a significant threat, and we will have to fight it. “And fight it well, not just for the sake of the Pirate Party, but because of the principles at stake. “I have always believed that it is not just enough to have principles, you need to act on them too, even if it gets difficult.”

Use of anti spyware --------

Whether you’re aware of it or not, somebody can be watching every move you make on your computer. Such a person is said to be a computer spy. It doesn’t matter if you’re jumping from site to site online, checking your email, or typing up a document in your word processor, you may be watched. How is this done? Through a software program referred to as spyware. Worst of all, you remain unaware that it is happening.

Why do people spy on innocent computer users? What do they care about your personal computer habits? Spies seek information as to who you are, where you live, what you do on your computer, and what sites you frequent online. With the data they gather, they take it and sell it to third parties as a source of income. Worst of all, they do it in an underhanded, immoral, and often illegal manner while invading your privacy.

Spyware, also called malware, installs itself on your computer without you even knowing about it. With it, facts are accumulated about your personal computing habits and this information is being sold to advertising firms whom push unwanted ads at you. It all happens as these malicious programs record you keystrokes and send them to a third party. This is how thieves get your usernames and passwords.

Not only does spyware intrude on your personal privacy, it may wreak havoc with your computer. It can clog your system’s memory, consume space on your hard drive, and cause performance slowdowns. Spyware can even create an electronic “back door” enabling bad people to come into your system, take control of it, and use it for their own purpose. Your machine can be a vehicle to sending spam to others or launching attacks on other computers on the internet.

And if that isn’t enough, spyware can change settings and hijack your web browser causing an unwanted homepage to appear every time you get online. Some of these malicious programs can cleverly embed themselves so deeply into your system that you will need a great deal of computer expertise to remove them. This may necessitate bringing your computer to a “geek squad” for repairs.

How to defeat most keyloggers on public computers 26/03/2012

IDENTIFY KEYLOGGERS- Internet cafes are the most likely place you’ll find them, followed by library, perhaps, and maybe even you own house if you’ve some unscrupulous friends/family. Identity theft groups warn about keyloggers and advocate checking out the keyboard yourself before continuing. Can you identify a keylogger, however, if one is plugged into the back of the system?

Here’s what one looks like:

Hit up this link for excellent info on keyloggers on public computers and how to protect yourself:

How to defeat most keyloggers on public computers Keyloggers can generally be classified as either software or hardware keyloggers. Software keyloggers are running as a background task on the system while hardware keyloggers are little devices that are most of the time connected between pc and keyboard recording every keystroke in their own memory.

One of the ways that MSN Sniffer helps answer questions about a loved one’s online activities is by monitoring and recording all incoming and outgoing Instant Messages, or IM’s. Instant messaging or “chatting” is one of the most popular forms of online communication and how most people meet on the Internet. Although it is common for people to try and erase their online communications by deleting IM’s, MSN Sniffer records these online messages before they can be deleted.

Using a we**am to send personal video messages is also very popular but more difficult to monitor than IM’s—unless you have MSN Messenger We**am Spy. This powerful monitoring tool can remotely activate the “Recording” function on a we**am. With this feature, MSN Messenger We**am Spy allows you to secretly record and later watch what your loved one is doing with their we**am.

Another popular form of online communication are VOIP’s, or phone calls made over the Internet using a service like Skype, MSN Messenger, or Yahoo Messenger. Unfortunately, these phone contacts will never be recorded on a traditional phone bill so there’s really no way of knowing who your loved one was talking to or for how long. With MSN Sniffer, you can secretly record all VOIP’s including Call Details so you can not only see who they are talking to—you can actually hear their conversations!

But to Get the “Truth”, You Need More than MSN Sniffer or MSN Messenger We**am Spy

MSN Spy and MSN Messenger We**am Spy applications are great tools for helping you monitor some of your loved one’s online communications. But in order to see exactly what websites they are visiting and what they are doing once they get to those sites, you will need a computer monitoring platform that includes the following features:

MSN Spy
MSN Messenger We**am Spy
Keystroke Logging
Automatic Screen Shots Taken Whenever New Website is Visited or a New Application is Used
MSN, Yahoo, and Skype Voice Call Recording
Location Tracking (for laptops)

You can certainly learn the truth about some of your loved one’s online communications using monitoring applications like MSN Sniffer and MSN Messenger We**am Spy. But if you want to monitor ALL online communications and computing activities, then you need to discreetly install comprehensive Desktop Monitoring Software that includes the features listed above.

SNES gamepad coversion to USB::---

[Kekszumquadrat] wanted to use a classic controller to play emulator games on his Android tablet so he set out to convert an SNES gamepad to connect via USB. He found an old USB keyboard at a yard sale for about 3 Euros. He knew that the emulator he prefers has the option of remapping all the inputs to keyboard keys which means a USB keyboard has all of the electronics he would need to pull this off.

Once he had separated the keyboard circuitry from the case [Kekszumquadrat] plugged it into his Linux box and used Xev to establish how the keyboard matrix is set up. Xev is a common package that opens up an active window on the X desktop. When run from command line, any events that happen to the window will be echoed along with verbose data about that event. When it comes to keypresses, you’ll get the keycode you need. He simply shorted columns and rows until he found the desired mapping, then it was on to soldering.

The SNES controllers are very simple devices. As we’ve seen with previous projects, they use a serial-to-parallel shift register to gather button data and send it to the console. [Kekszumquadrat] simply soldered between button traces and keyboard matrix contacts. Once he finished, the keyboard parts were tucked inside of the controller case and he’s left with a USB controller that appears to be unaltered.
