"Now that I’ve had time to sit with it, I keep coming back to how emotional this halftime show was for me as a Puerto Rican.

That performance felt like being understood without having to explain yourself. Like watching our history, our pain, our joy, our humor, and our resistance treated with care instead of spectacle. The sugarcane, the music that was once criminalized, the flag that was once banned, the sounds of bomba and the cuatro, the blackout that so many of our families still live through. None of it was accidental. All of it was truth.

What moved me most was how familiar it felt. The wedding scene. The kids asleep in chairs. The adults dancing until dawn. The way culture lives in the small moments, not just the big ones. It reminded me that being Puerto Rican isn’t just where you’re from, it’s how you carry your people with you everywhere you go.

This wasn’t about crossing over or making anyone comfortable. It was about honoring who we are, loudly and unapologetically, on a stage that has rarely made room for that. And as someone raising a child who will inherit this culture, this history, and this pride, it meant everything to see it centered, respected, and celebrated'.
