Los virovoros....
"Our results indicate, however, that energy and nutrients from host microbes may pass through viruses into graz-ers and move up the food chain through virovory..."
The consumption of viruses returns energy to food chains | Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
Viruses impact host cells and have indirect effects on ecosystem processes. Plankton such as ciliates can reduce the abundance of virions in water,...

"In studies published in 2020 and 2021, Foxman and her colleagues reported that an initial infection of rhinovirus induced a strong and rapid innate immune response that prevented a subsequent infection with influenza or SARS-CoV-2 in an organoid model."
What Happens When You Catch More than One Virus?
The “tripledemic” shines a spotlight on viral interference, in which one infection can block another.

The findings, published today in Science, show that the virus's genetic code can be read in two different ways by cells the virus has infected. The result is that infected cells make two different forms of the virus's RNA.
Breakthrough discovery in HIV research opens path to new, better therapies
New research on the structure of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has revealed a promising novel drug target for treating HIV infection, which affects more than 1 million Americans and 40 million people worldwide. The findings, published today in Science, show that the virus's genetic code can...

Immune system can be coaxed into selecting key antibodies to fight HIV
Researchers have cleared a major obstacle in the development of an HIV vaccine, proving in animal models that effective, yet short-lasting antibodies can be coaxed into multiplying as a fighting force against the virus.

"In this work, the researchers also obtained samples of DENV2 from infected patients. They found that unlike the dengue viruses used in the laboratory, those from patients remained smooth at 37 degrees Celsius. At a fever temperature of 40 degrees, however, the bumpy surface emerged".
Temperature Alters the Physical Characteristics of Dengue Virus
Four related types of dengue virus are common in at least 100 countries and threaten around three billion people. | Microbiology
