Éxito does NOT mean exit! It means success!!! 🏆 Tuve éxito en el examen. = I was successful (or had a lot of success) on the test. 📝 Salida is actually the word for exit in Spanish. Funny story: I was in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 one time with someone that didn’t speak Spanish. We were driving to the south side of the island and he says “Man, this salida town must be HUGE. It’s on every exit!” 🤣🤣🤣 Don’t worry, I explained to him that salida means exit and we had a good laugh. Learning a language can be pretty funny! We just need to learn to laugh at ourselves! 😅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💐 Feliz día de la madre! 💐 Mi madre me apoya en todo ❤️. (Ignore the bad selfie) This pic is my mom supporting me. 💕 Fun fact about my mom: she grew up in Mexico. 🇲🇽 Her parents were missionaries in Mexico, so she learned to speak Spanish growing up. Just don’t ask her to write any of it down. 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When expectation is not the reality. 🤯🤯🤯 Mexico’s Independence Day 🇲🇽 is actually September 16th - a date us Americans don’t pay any attention to. So how did we come to believe that Mexico’s Independence Day was Cinco de Mayo? 🤷‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m not quite sure how we got so mixed up, but I do know what Cinco de Mayo actually celebrates. On the 5th of May (obviously) there was a battle in Puebla between Mexico and the French during the Franco-Mexican War. Mexico took the victory! 🏆 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Worst part about our confusion is that Cinco de Mayo is not even widely celebrated in Mexico, much to our shock. 🤯 Nope! 😂 At least now we know the real reason we are eating tacos 🌮 on Cinco de Mayo.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

¿Eres aventurero? 🗺 Este es Cañón Blanco en Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. If you want to reach the “White Canyon” you have to be a bit adventurous. Some of the best places to see in Puerto Rico are hidden gems like this that aren’t so Google Maps friendly BUT it is SO worth it once you find it. One of the reasons I ❤️ Puerto Rico. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Luke 24:6-7 “He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Reflexive Verbs 👩‍🏫 The doer of the action is also the receiver of the action. YOU wash YOUR hands ✅ HE shaves HIS face ✅ SHE brushes YOUR teeth ❌ That’s weird! If the DOER doesn’t match the receiver, then you don’t have a reflexive verb. TE lavAS las manos ✅ SE afeitA la cara ✅ SE cepillAS los dientes ❌ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cueva Ventana: Arecibo, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 Cueva Ventana translates to Window Cave 🪟 and you can see why from this picture. After traveling through a pitch black cave 🔦, you find this beautiful view that is framed by this window. If you ever find yourself in Puerto Rico, Cueva Ventana is an item you will want to check off your bucket list. It’s about an hour drive from San Juan. Pro Tip: DON’T just spend your entire trip in San Juan. Puerto Rico is such a beautiful island ⛰🏝 and you won’t get views like this in San Juan.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

¡Buenos días! Mi rutina diaria = my daily routine 🧖‍♀️ 🧼🚿 When learning another language it is important to talk about things that matter to YOU! Talking about your life and your daily routine makes learning another language real and concrete. 🛁 Making the connection between a new language and your life will help you remember what you learn! Me cepillo los dientes dos veces (2x) al día. ¿Cuántas veces al día te cepillas los dientes? 🪥 ¿Dos veces? ¿Tres veces? 🚰⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
