📍✨ Learning Spanish is also about discovering Mexico City. 🇲🇽

Our student Christopher, from the United States 🇺🇸, and our teacher Xóchitl enjoyed a lesson at one of the most iconic buildings in the city: the Palacio Postal (Postal Palace).

At Learn Spanish in Mexico City, we believe that some of the best learning happens beyond the classroom. Every conversation, every walk, and every cultural experience becomes an opportunity to practice Spanish in a natural and meaningful way.

Because learning a language is not only about studying grammar...

✨ It's ordering a coffee.
✨ It's talking with local people.
✨ It's discovering the history behind every corner of the city.
✨ It's living the language.

Think learning Spanish only happens in a classroom?

Think again. 🇲🇽

Some of the best Spanish lessons happen while walking through Coyoacán, exploring Anahuacalli, visiting Ciudad Universitaria, or listening to mariachi music in Xochimilco.

Because language is more than grammar.
It’s culture, conversations, food, art, history, and real-life experiences.

In Mexico, people don’t just speak Spanish…

They speak in DICHOS 🇲🇽✨

Traditional sayings full of wisdom, humor and real-life lessons 👀

Like:

🦐 “Camarón que se duerme, se lo lleva la corriente.”
→ If you’re not attentive, you might miss opportunities.

🪑 “El que se fue a la villa, perdió su silla.”
→ If you leave your place, someone else might take it.

🙂 “Al mal tiempo, buena cara.”
→ Stay positive even when things go wrong.

And the best part?
Mexicans still use these EVERY DAY ❤️

Learning Spanish in Mexico is also learning how Mexicans think, joke and connect.

Did you know Mexican Spanish is the most universally understood dialect for 500 million Spanish speakers worldwide? 🌎

Not a myth. It's linguistics.

Mexican Spanish avoids extreme regionalisms, has clear pronunciation, and is the industry standard for Spanish-language entertainment (dubbing, film, radio).

That makes it the perfect starting point to connect with:

→ Mexico 🇲🇽 (130M people)

→ US Hispanic community (60M people)

→ All of Latin America

And Mexico City doesn't just give you the language. It gives you the cultural context no textbook can teach.

Here, you don't study Spanish. You live it.

👇 What do you think is the biggest advantage of learning a language in its home country?

Your Spanish will never grow only inside a classroom.
Because the real magic happens when you order tacos, get lost in the Metro, laugh in Xochimilco, ask questions in museums, and discover Mexico City one conversation at a time. 🇲🇽✨

At Learn Spanish in Mexico City, our City Trips turn the entire city into your classroom.

Real places.
Real culture.
Real Spanish.

Your Spanish textbook probably never prepared you for this 🇲🇽😂

Because in Mexico… people don’t just get sick.

They get: 🤒 Mal del puerco
🤕 Empacho
😵 El patatús
🥴 La chiripiolca
🐎 Dolor de caballo
👁️ Mal de ojo
🐕 Tos de perro

And somehow… every Mexican understands EXACTLY what that means 😭

Learning Spanish in Mexico is not only about grammar. It’s about understanding culture, humor, expressions and the real way people communicate every day.

That’s why Mexican Spanish feels so alive ❤️🇲🇽

Barry came to Mexico City to learn Spanish.
He left understanding Latin America.

No app teaches you what happens when you stand in front of a Jorge González Camarena mural at the Secretaría de Educación Pública and your teacher asks:

*"¿Qué ves? Descríbelo en español."*

Barry paused for a long time.

Then — slowly, carefully, in Spanish — he started talking about the figures on the wall. The indigenous leaders. The revolutionaries. América Latina painted across the continent like a declaration.

"I realized," he told me after, "that I wasn't just learning a language. I was learning why this language matters."

That was the first stop.

Then: the Museo Nacional de Antropología, face to face with the Piedra del Sol.
Then: back to the classroom — where the words finally had a body.

This is what a City Trip looks like at Learn Spanish in Mexico City.
Not a tour. Not a textbook.
A conversation with the city itself — guided in Spanish, one student at a time.

Gracias, Barry, por tu curiosidad y tu paciencia. 🙏
Y gracias, Virenka, por hacer que cada clase sea un viaje.

If you're spending time in CDMX and want Spanish that actually lives beyond a classroom — let's talk.

Happy Mother’s Day from Mexico City 🇲🇽🌷

Today felt like the perfect moment to talk about one of the most iconic words in Mexican Spanish:

“Madre.”

Because in Mexico… this word can mean almost EVERYTHING depending on the context 😂

👉 “Está poca madre” 👉 “Qué desmadre” 👉 “Me vale madre”

Same word. Completely different meanings.

⚠️ Important: These are informal Mexican expressions and not considered polite in formal situations.

But they are extremely common in everyday conversations across Mexico.

And that’s exactly why learning Spanish in Mexico is so different from learning it in a textbook.

Because Spanish here is not only about grammar.

It’s about: culture, tone, humor, social context and understanding what people REALLY mean.

At Learn Spanish in Mexico City, our students don’t only study Spanish…

They experience it through real conversations and authentic cultural immersion in CDMX 🇲🇽

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms celebrating today 💐

Most foreigners know “Cinco de Mayo” long before visiting Mexico.

But once they arrive here… they discover something surprising:

It’s not Mexico’s Independence Day.

Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Battle of Puebla in 1862, when the Mexican army defeated the French army against all odds.

And while the date became internationally famous over time, in Mexico it’s experienced very differently from what many people imagine abroad.

That’s why learning Spanish is not only about vocabulary.

It’s about understanding context. History. Culture. Identity. And how people actually live and communicate in Mexico.

Because fluency changes completely when language becomes connected to real life.

🇲🇽📍 Mexico City

Spanish isn’t only studied. It’s experienced.
