There is nothing more frustrating than when you don't have a clear career growth plan.

I remember when, after creating a global tech machine learning system, I got downgraded to do lousy implementation tasks.

"Can you please tell me which is the roadmap of the company, so I can evaluate a better way to assist?" I asked my manager

"Roadmap?" he laughed

That's when I learned that, regardless of my previous contributions, I was only an extra piece in a roadless company.

One of the beauties of being a software engineer is that everybody is counting on you to solve everything... but it can be counterproductive as well.

So if you want to become the Most Valuable Player, avoid next points:
1. Do everything yourself
2. Jump to the new requirements without improving the core of the system
3. Say YES to EVERY incoming task

You have only 2 options:

1. Either you work for the rest of your life in a job that won't let you breathe, that will grant only 15 days of vacation each year and that will make you feel depressed and uncertain about your life.

2. Make time to work on yourself, decide what success looks like IN YOUR OWN TERMS and start working on things that will encompass your skills and your heart.
