There is nothing more frustrating than when you don't have a clear career growth plan.

I remember when, after creating a global tech machine learning system, I got downgraded to do lousy implementation tasks.

"Can you please tell me which is the roadmap of the company, so I can evaluate a better way to assist?" I asked my manager

"Roadmap?" he laughed

That's when I learned that, regardless of my previous contributions, I was only an extra piece in a roadless company.

Production server is down...!

"Did you deploy something on the server? Was it tested? Did every stakeholder agreed on that?"
And the list of questions goes on and on.

One of the beauties of being a software engineer is that everybody is counting on you to solve everything... but it can be counterproductive as well.

So if you want to become the Most Valuable Player, avoid next points:
1. Do everything yourself
2. Jump to the new requirements without improving the core of the system
3. Say YES to EVERY incoming task

All that pressure to be loyal to the employer... SUCKS!

You have only 2 options:

1. Either you work for the rest of your life in a job that won't let you breathe, that will grant only 15 days of vacation each year and that will make you feel depressed and uncertain about your life.

2. Make time to work on yourself, decide what success looks like IN YOUR OWN TERMS and start working on things that will encompass your skills and your heart.

If your professional career lacks certainty, it's not your fault!
Good news is that we can ethically "hack" any system, can't we?

Are you done with job uncertainty?

Pandemic made it clear. We can only be certain about change.
And if change is going to be our best friend, let's strengthen our wings so we can fly when needed.
Here 3 steps:

1. Set healthy boundaries. It will make people respect you.
2. Define success in your own terms. Be honest to yourself and focus on what matters the most for you
3. Find your purpose in life. Your purpose resides in your past and your history, not in your job
